　荒このみ著『歌姫あるいは闘士 ジョセフィン・ベイカー』から、出展を示さない引用をおこなって、先般著者が謝罪した一冊です。二刷から訂正が出ると良いのですが。
　実は内容も猪俣良樹著『黒いヴィーナス ジョセフィン・ベイカー―狂瀾の1920年代、パリ』の一部をふくらませただけで、読み比べて見てもこの本には目新しい記載はありません。

新潮４５連載中はこの作品を読むのが楽しみで
ワクワクしながら読んだものだ・・・でも、３話ぐらいまで読んだ後、
そもそもその雑誌を買わなくなったので、その後の話がずーと気になっていました

連載を読んだ人でも大きく構成を変えてあるので読めると思いますが、ワクワク感はありません。自分の出生を知る事が非凡な幼児期をおくって来た物にどんな作用を与えるのか
考えさせられました。ただ、本当の事はわからない、私は当時は知らなかったけれど、
当時の新聞記事などを読んでジョセフィン・ベーカーについて少しでも関心を持った人には
とても、興味深く読む事が出来るだろうと思いました。
私はあいにく彼女の事を知りませんでした、でも、文中から彼女の魂に響く歌声と、子供たちの魂の叫びが、読書中音楽として聞こえたような気がしました

しかしながら高山文彦の作品としては、ちょっと物足りない、水平記や火花のように作者の心に入っていけない、もどかしさを作者も感じ読者も感じるけれど、もしかしたら
今も生きている１３人を書くのだからこそ、そのもどかしさこそ作者の書きたかった事かもしれない
