市川新之助さんの騒動があり、
新之助さんのおじいさんに当たる十一代 団十郎も、
内縁の妻がいて、子供が６歳になるまで公表されず、
その奥さんがモデルになっているのがこの小説だと聞き、
読んでみました。

先に母が読んでいて、尽くして尽くして尽くしぬく、
主人公 光乃の姿が、母としては疑問を感じたという感想を

聞き、はじめは、光乃のかわいそうな話なのかな、
と思っていました。
でも、読みすすめていくうちに、いつのまにか、光乃に
感情移入してしまい、「坊ちゃま」「旦那さま」の雪雄に
夢中になりました。
読み終えてから、改めて市川団十郎さんのＨＰを観て、
ああ、この人があの人か、あの人がこの人か、と梨園の系譜も
楽しみました。

もう一度、読み直してみようと思いました。

そして、読む前にはなんとなく新之助さんに反感を持っていたのですが、
読み終えて、雪雄のモデルの十一代団十郎に生き写し、といわれる
彼ならば、今回の騒動もしょうがないかな~、なんて思ってしまいました。

昭和初期、歌舞伎役者の女中となった主人公光乃が、辛抱のすえ憧れの人の妻となるまでがリズムの良い文章で進んでいきます。けなげな主人公に惚れるのは作中の人物だけでなく私たち読者かもしれません。歌舞伎好きな人は、もっと
深い部分で楽しんで頂けるでしょう。先代の市川団十郎の妻がモデルとして描かれています。

女の人生を描いた作品が多い宮尾登美子さんの書籍の中で、「きのね」が一番好きです！
田舎から東京に出てきた少女が、人材紹介所で偶然見つけた仕事とは、有名歌舞伎俳優一家のお手伝いとして働く仕事だった･･･
まるで少女漫画並みの、「あり得ない！展開」に思えますが、それをどんどん読ませてしまうのが宮尾さんの筆力！
健気に働く少女に次々に起こる波瀾万丈の展開に、夢中になってしまいました。
