初めて源氏物語を読破したのはこの作品でした。
この本を読む以前に子ども用のマンガで入門のようなものを読んで
興味をもっていたのですが
念願の源氏物語を読破できたことでとても幸せだったのを覚えています。
それからほとんどの有名な源氏物語の訳を読んできましたが
やはり最後に一番お話として面白く書かれているのはこの本だと
気づきました。ほかの方もレビューで書かれていましたが
読みやすく独特のテンポで、まるでやさしいメロディーのような、
訳者の源氏物語への愛情までもが伝わってくるような文体です。
内容もとてもわかりやすく面白く作ってあり、原典では分かりにくい
登場人物の感情の流れも書かれていて学問ではなく小説として
しっかりとした読み応えがあります。
これがきっかけで私は古典に興味をもち、原典を読みたくなりました。
そのときから古典は勉強でははくなり、楽しみや趣味になってしまいました。
この本にはそれだけの力があると思います。
とてもオススメです。

　現代語訳以外の、アレンジされた源氏物語は数多くありますが、個人的にはこの本がとても好きです。

　美しくやわらかな（決して難解な表現はないです）ことばが、登場人物全てに愛情を持つ田辺さんによって、リズミカルに紡がれています。
たおやかな文章に心が解きほぐされ、ことばが染み入ります。
　
　こちらは原文に忠実に訳されたものではなく、田辺さんによる「新しい源氏物語」です。
　厳密な意味での受験対策などには、忠実な現代文訳の併読が必要かと思います。　
　
　私は受験勉強で大筋を知った程度だったのですが、この本（全3巻）を読んで源氏物語に対するイメージが変わりました。単なる男女の愛憎劇に終わりません。
　
　やさしい文なので、こま切れの時間を利用して読むことも出来ますが、時間や精神的に余裕のあるときに何度も読み返すのにも十分耐えうる本です。
　
　言葉が時と共に変化していくことは自然なことですが、TPOにあわせてこのようなたおやかな言葉を使い分けられると、とても素敵だと思います。
　語彙力もUPしますので、興味が持てたならぜひ手に取っていただきたい1冊です。

タイトルが実直な感想です。はっきり言ってしまえば、教科書に載る部分は色恋のおもしろいところは取り除かれたものだと思います。これだけ長い間伝わるだけの読みごたえはアリです。「新」でおわかりのとおり、現代語で書かれていますので読みやすいです。けれども、表現の美しさは変わらないと思います。日本語の美しさ、文化に自信を持てるようになるのではないでしょうか。
