ついふらっと江戸の町に・・・なんて素敵だ！！普通に町を散歩するように江戸の町を歩き、季節を感じ、旬を食らう。江戸は遠い世界ではない、行こうと思えばすぐそばに・・・。江戸の日常を覗き見する感じがなんだか楽しくて、安らげる。そんな一冊でした。

江戸にいくためのライセンスを取得していざ！江戸へ！！ライセンスの級によって、滞在時間や制約などがあるが、思い立ったらいつでも江戸に行けるのがいい。銭湯に入ったり、お蕎麦を食べたり、今はもうない景色を堪能する事もできる。そんなぶらぶらと作者が歩いた様子をスケッチと文章で楽しめます。自分も行ったつもりになれるとても楽しい本です。

　杉浦日向子さんの本の中でも一番好きな本で、手元においていつも眺めています。
　前置きなしですが、いつの間にやらタイムマシンが開発されていて、杉浦さんはさっそく江戸時代に行ける免許をとって毎週のよにタイムスリップ…という設定。
　でも、カメラやレコーダー、現代のものの持ち込みはいっさい禁止。というわけで、街をへめぐり、好きな光景をしっかり目に焼き付けて、自宅でスケッチを起こすという設定になっています。本書に収められたイラストは、全部そんな実地で見た景色の写し、なのです。
　…というのは、もちろん架空の設定。だけれど、杉浦さんは架空という気持ちでやっていなかったのではないかと思います。今日はどこを描こうか。あそこの景色はよかった。あの人々は面白かった。あそこのせんべいはうまかった。そうだあれを描こう、なんてやってるとき、杉浦さんの魂は実際に現代を抜け出し、江戸の町を歩いていたのだと思います。絵はけっして本格な画家のように上手ではないですが、何気ない日常が中心に描かれ、見ているとその濃厚な“空気感”にこちらまで魂がさまよいだして江戸に飛んでいってしまうようです。
