著者略歴 (「BOOK著者紹介情報」より)

稲垣 足穂
1900‐1977。大阪市船場生れ。関西学院中学部卒後、上京。佐藤春夫の知遇を得、小説を書き始める。1922(大正11)年、「チョコレット」を発表。翌年、『一千一秒物語』を処女出版。アルコール、ニコチン中毒のため、一時文壇を離れるが、戦後活動を再開。私小説「弥勒」(’46年)、エッセー「A感覚とV感覚」(’54年)は諸家の注目を集めた。’69年、『少年愛の美学』により第一回日本文学大賞受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

5.0 out of 5 stars 夜更けの街角で宇宙を幻視する・・・, 2006/6/12
　数あるタルホ作品の中でも僕が一番好きなのがこれです。ウィスキーを片手にこの本を読み、かつての神戸の夜を、あるいはプラハやエジンバラ、ダブリンあたりの街角を思いつつ、宇宙を幻視できるのは至福の一時でしょう。
　そう言えば、『スモール・プラネット』のたむらしげるさんがイラストを描いた絵本版『一千一秒物語』も悪くないですね。星や月との語らいを想い、夜が待ち遠しくなってきます。もっとも、個人的にはイラストなしの方が想像力をかきたてられるけど・・・。
　ちなみに所収の『星を売る店』の舞台は神戸の新開地。当時の新開地って今とは比べ物にならないくらいモダンでエキゾチックな街だったのでしょうね。

優れた作品を数多く生み出した稲垣足穂の世界は時間の空間が少し歪んでいるようでありながらもどこか居心地のよさがある。
作品の中にあらわれる言葉はどれも素敵で、日本語というのはこれほど美しい言葉に満ち溢れているのだな、と思いました。繊細な表現やウィットに富んだ会話、粋でもあるし、おちゃめでもある。

足穂の本を読む度に「この作品を読むことができ、日本人に生まれて本当によかった!」と嬉しくなります。
稲垣足穂をはじめて読む人にもおすすめの一冊です。

　「一千一秒物語」―考えてみれば壮大なタイトル…だからそこに
惹かれました。比較的難解な稲垣作品の中でも、どこか謎めき、そして
人間味溢れた幻想的な魅力に満ちています。老若男女の壁を作らない
旧くも新しいコスモロジー…小さな話の一つ一つに、星空を見上げる
ような広々とした世界をきっと感じる事でしょう。
