はじめに映画を見ました。はじめて映画を観て涙しました。不思議な、そして懐かしい映画でした。何度も観ました。そして小説を読みました。映画は小説の内容をそのまま表現していたことがわかりました。脚色の必要がないほどの完成度をもっていたのでしょう。

小説の中で英夫が父親とキャッチボールをするシーンが一番印象に残っています。この作品にであって両親のありがたさを強烈に感じました。

亡き父、母との再びの別れのシーンは、涙なくしては読めません。これを読んで以来、別れをどう迎えるか、心の準備の仕方のイメージがわかりはじめたような気がします。思いを残すことなく生きるには、どうすればよいか、ということを、深く考えさせられました。

ホラー小説というジャンルになるのかな・・。前に浅田次郎さんの『活動写真の女』という本を読んだのですが、その感じに少し似ているなという印象がありました。（話は全く違うし、この本の方が読み易く分かり易くて私は好きです）
ここに出てくる異人達というのは想像がつくかと思いますが、亡くなった人々です。
孤独を求めて妻子と別れた主人公は、ある日自分が本当に孤独で誰からの関心も得られない事を寂しく思います。そんな時に自分が生まれた浅草で死んだ両親に逢い、二人と過ごすことでとても幸福を感じる事が出来る。家族って、親って本当にありがたくて大切な物なんだと感じる事が出来ました。
最後にちょっとしたどんでん返しがあるのですが・・・自分のとった何気ない行動が、とんでもない事を引き起こす事もあるのだと思い一瞬背中に寒気が走る場面もありました。
