私はこの作品をリアルタイムで読んだことはありません。
母の本棚の奥にひっそりしまってあった「ポーの一族」を見つけたのは、小学生のときでした。
棚の奥にしまわれて黄ばんでしまったページを、一枚一枚丁寧に時間をかけて、しかし一気に読みました。
繊細でありながら力強く、はかなげで不気味。作画の美しさに驚嘆し、構成の完成度の高さに感動しました。
これこそ、後々まで継がれるべき名作であると思います。

この時代に生まれてしまったことを悔やみます。母や母の世代の方々が羨ましくてなりません。

作品については他の方が詳しく書かれているので省略。
僕が初めて読んだのは、フラワーコミックス全3巻の時代でした。
もちろん、何度も読み返し、発表順に読み、年表を作りました。
すでに読んでいる皆さん同じでしょう。
今回のこの全2巻のすばらしいところは、何よりも発表順に収録されていることだと思います。
もちろん、カラーページや、連載長編の見開きとびらの復元もすばらしいですが、それより何より、作者が世の中に発表した順番で読める。これですよ。
長い時間の中で、時間を行き来しながら描かれたこの作品を一番楽しめる読み方は「発表順」です。
口絵のカラーについては、うれしいおまけだけど、1巻の時代に描かれたものではないのが入ってるのがちょっと残念。それは2巻に入れて欲しかったかな。

ほんとうにずっと待ってたんです、「ポーの一族」完全版！
初めて読んだ中学２年のときから、ずっとずっと想い焦がれてきた作品です。今まで読んだ誰の作品よりも、そしてどの作品よりもすばらしく、それがこのような完全版で出されたのはとってもうれしいことです。

とくにすばらしいのが「ポーの一族」「メリーベルと銀のばら」「小鳥の巣」の扉絵がすべて再現されていることです。それも「小鳥の巣」の第３話以外は全部見開きですよ！　その見開きでない「小鳥の巣」の第３話もカラー扉なのです！
さらに、さらに、口絵カラー４ページがあるなんて！　感激で、もう胸がいっぱいです。
