この本を買う（＆買おうか迷っている）人は、大きく分けて４パターンだと思います。
【１】西尾維新の小説が好きで、デスノも読んだことがある。（好きかどうかは不問、とりあえずストーリーを知っている）
【２】西尾維新の小説が好きだけど、デスノは読んだことがない。（だから内容が理解できないだろうから買うのを迷っている）
【３】デスノは好きだけど、西尾維新の小説を読んだことがない。
【４】デスノは好きだけど、西尾維新の小説を読んだことがあり嫌い。

で、個人的に思うそれぞれへのお薦め具合。
【１の人】お薦めです。迷わず買ってください。
【２の人】ほどほどにお薦めです。事前にデスノを読んで予習するか、後からデスノを読んで意味不明だった事柄に納得するか、それとも本書だけで満足するかは、読み手次第。
【３の人】まあまあにお薦めです。もしかしたら小説家・西尾維新もツボにはまるかもしれない・・・そんな一か八かの賭けの気持ちで読むと良いでしょう。勝てば一粒で二度おいしくてラッキー。
【４の人】お薦めしません。それでも買って読んでしまう・・・だって自分はデスノが好きだから・・・なぜノベライズ担当が西尾維新なんだ集英社さんよぉ。そんな貴方は自分のデスノ好きっぷりに誇りを持ってください。

ちなみに私は【３の人】で賭けに負けました。

言葉遊びや、それを利用した推理小説が好きな人はまあ読めるだろう。舞城や清涼院が好きな人ならこの位は許せるだろうし、それなりに楽しめると思う。ちなみに私は楽しめた。
ただ購入の際に気をつけて欲しいのは次のような方々

１、上記のような小説が好きじゃない方。
２、原作に強い思い入れを持つ方。
３、西尾維新の文体が気に障る方。

このうちのいずれかに当てはまる方にはおススメできない。
人を選ぶ小説なので、購入前によく検討してほしい。

ライトで読みやすい内容です。
マンガの原作にしろ映画の実写にしろキャラクターへ対するイメージは人それぞれだと思いますが、原作も映画もＬが大好きな自分にとっては面白いお話でした。
南空ナオミから見た竜崎の描写が自分的にはＬらしいと思えましたし楽しかったです。
難を言えばもう少し量が欲しかったとは思います。
