20巻は、なぜ氷高皇女が独身を貫くことになったのかが描かれています。氷高を愛するが故の新田部皇子の別れの決断、そしてその思いを察し別れを受け入れ、一生結婚しないと誓う氷高。これもひとつの愛の形なのですね。

また亡き大津皇子の息子、安麻呂が登場。父の仇を討とうと讃良上皇の命を狙っています。大津そっくりの安麻呂と対峙した時、果たして讃良は…?次巻が楽しみです。

正直今巻最終巻かと思っていましたが、物語の膨らませ方が上手いですね。さすが里中先生です。あと2、3巻は楽しめるでしょうか…?

期待通り、面白かったですし、次巻がすごく気になります!けど…何だか「痛々しい」印象を受けたのは私だけでしょうか。年老いた五百重、讃良の表情や台詞、ひとつひとつがキツイ!んです。重いんです。里中先生の体調や心境を表しているようで…心配です。まだまだ先生には頑張っていただきたいです!

待ちに待った20巻。
久しぶりにこの作品を読みましたが、やっぱり変わらずに面白いです。
今まで長いこと出ていなかった人物が再登場したり、
意外なあの人物の関係者が新たに登場します。
逆に、今まで途切れることなく登場していた人物たちも、
新たな一面が描かれたり、思っていなかった展開が用意されています。

個人的には、ネタばれになってしまいますが…
新田部の一見冷めたような態度に隠された本当の思いやりと決断、
氷高との最後、五百重の恨みや哀しみ、大江皇女や長の優しさと悲しみが印象的でした。
次巻が出るのはだいぶ先になってしまうと思いますが、今から楽しみです。
里中先生がお体にお気をつけて、また素晴らしいお話を描いてくださるのを楽しみにしています。
