物凄く面白い。まさに急展開。
ただ、単行本派の方はご注意下さい。
本の帯に物凄いネタばれが書かれてます。
これを知ってしまうと面白さも半減しかねません。
本に帯がついていた時は、なるべく先に本文を読んでから見て下さい。

この巻にて序章が完結しました。
おそらくこれからはトルフィンを重点的に描いていく冒険譚になるのでしょうが、
ただの助走に過ぎない序章ですらこの密度と面白さなのだから凄い。
見易く且つ迫力満点の描画に政治、風土、生活など漫画としてのレベルが非常に高い上に、
毎号山場を創って読み手を盛り上げさせる手腕は流石としか言いようがありません。

しかし巨編ファンタジー漫画「ベルセルク」がそうであったように、
本編よりも序章のほうが面白かったというような状態にならないとも言えないのがネックですね。
新章のほんの触りしかこの巻では描かれていませんが予想以上に面白くこれからにも期待しています。

あとこの作品に対しての文句ではありませんがあの帯の文句はどうにかなりませんかね…。
この巻のクライマックスシーンのネタバレを読む前からさせられるのは正直どうかと思います。

ただただ、凄い。

知将アシェラッドが、直前まで彼自身予想もしなかった
最大最後の策略を実行する。

なんという熱い想い。
なんという冷たい頭脳。
痛快で、哀しい。

クヌート王子の覚醒の時もそうだったけど、
著者は爆発的な感情の揺れや意識の切り替わりを伝えるのが
すごくうまい。
ごく個人的な事情による心理の反転なのに、読んでいると
『そりゃそうなるよな』と納得できる。

「ははははは!」と狂ったように叫ぶアシェラッドの、
冷静に乱心を演じながら同時に自分で選んだ結末に満足し
最後のひと暴れを楽しんでさえいる、
その複雑な心理さえ、びしびし伝わってくる。

ここまでの長い物語をプロローグと言ってのけるとは。
目標を見失ったトルフィンには
これからどんな物語が待ち受けているのか?
じつに楽しみです。
