蟲とは作者の想像し創造したものですが、平たく言ってしまうと生命の起源の生物であり、妖怪みたいな存在です。そして蟲師とは、人間に危害が出たときの治療に当たる人です。主人公はこの蟲師で、蟲に関わる人々との交流などを描きます。書いていること、ストーリーに対して目を見張るような魅力は無いのですが、なぜか読んだ後にほぁーと心が温まるような作品です。おばあちゃんが語ってくれるような、日本の田舎に伝わる民話。そんな懐かしさがあります。

オムニバスです。
一定の登場人物は何度か出てきますがほぼ主人公「ギンコ」とゲストキャストで話が進みます。
自分は最初にアニメのほうで知って、とてもきれいな音楽、雰囲気と作画にホレボレして漫画を読み始めたのですが
最初の印象は「あれれ、絵がアニメとずいぶん違うなぁ」でした（笑）荒いというか。
でも！読んでいくうちにこの絵だからこそ出る味の虜に・・・あれはあれ、これはこれということでしょうか。
恐ろしくも暖かくて少し寂しい、蟲という存在を通して描かれるおはなし。
蟲といっても昆虫みたいなのではなくあるときは幽霊のような
あるときは自然そのもののような。という存在なのです。
基本一話完結なのですが一度のぞいたら止めるのが難しい。読ませる漫画です。
ただ万人受けはしないと思います。
全体的に良くいえば「静寂、美しさ」悪くいえば「暗い、地味」な雰囲気はあわない人には退屈に感じるかと。
表紙などが漂わせる独特の雰囲気にガツンっときたら、読んでみるべし。
作者さんの創り出した「蟲」とそれにまつわる人々の奇妙なお話が本当にあった話のように思えてくる。
蟲・・・本当にいたら怖いようなうれしいような。おすすめです。

良い意味で、淡々とした雰囲気の中、落ち着いた話運びが続く漫画です。
独特の間の取り方と、その絵柄も相まって、初めて目にする雰囲気の作品に感じられました。

一般で幽霊や超常現象と呼ばれる類の事例を、「蟲」を絡めることによって、
主人公の蟲師が、その現象を解決していく、読み解いていくといった形で物語は進みます。
蟲師は、多くの人が見えず分からずのことを解決することが出来る存在ですが、
決して英雄でもなく、敬われるわけでもなく、ある種、異端として扱われている面があります。

人と異なるということ――
その描写の絶妙さに、とても惹き付けられました。
