今回はどれもあっさりさっぱりの塩ラーメン風味の四作品。どの作品もポイントとなるのが
ワントリックなので、そこに絞ることが出来るため非常に読みやすい。深みがないと言えば
それまでだが、短編は読みやすくきっちりとまとまっている事が肝心だと思うので、評価は
高めにしたいと思います。以下、それぞれの感想。
「あるYの悲劇」：アンソロジーの時に既読でしたが、改めて読んでも”Y”を被害者が壁に書
いたことに対するロジックというか理屈づけが好きです。ダイイングメッセージの謎自体は
とっても簡単ですが。ただ、自分が被害者だったら恐らくそんな動きはしない、と思う。
「女彫刻家の首」：EQの「ローマ帽子」や高木彬光の「人形」の様に、何故犯人がこうい
う行動をとったかということが肝になる作品です。解答は非常に単純な理由ですが、それ
だからこそ短編としての完成度が高い納得いく仕上がりになるのではないかと思います。個
人的にはこのなかで一番好きな作品です。
「シャイロックの密室」：今回の飛び道具。叙述形式だから、という訳ではなくトリックが
トンデモ密室で、漫画やテレビドラマ向きな馬鹿馬鹿しさ。こういうのを書くからアンチが
増えるのだろうと思いますが、カーの一部の作品や戦前の日本の作品の中にはもっととんで
もない密室ものがあるのでそういったものへのオマージュだと思えば・・・
「スイス時計の謎」：表題作。トリック自体は簡単ですが、”他が全部白だから残りは黒”と
いった感じのロジックが美しい作品です。でもやっぱりちょっと強引な気もしますけれど
古今東西、名探偵はそんなものだと思えば問題なし、かな？

　2003年の講談社ノベルスの文庫化。
　国名シリーズとしては『ペルシャ猫の謎』から４年ぶり。一冊ごとに質を落としていた国名シリーズだが、ブランクのあったおかげか、いくらか盛り返している。あくまで「いくらか」であり、読むに耐えないものも混じっている。
　収録されている４篇のうち、もっとも良く出来ているのが表題作。理詰めで犯人を解き明かしていく過程が面白い。

　火村＋有栖の国名シリーズ第7弾。今回は短編集です。
　表題作である「スイス時計の謎」では、殺害現場から被害者の時計を犯人が隠すという謎の行動を起こします。
　被害者、容疑者ともに有栖の同級生というシチュエーションですが、短編集ということもあってあっさりしすぎた感じ。嫌な同級生やな……と思いながらも、久々に有栖の内面がのぞき見ることができてこの感触は嫌いじゃないです。

　でも、「マレー鉄道の謎」の方がミステリーとしては好きで、物語としては「月光ゲーム」などの江村シリーズの方が好きなんですよね。
　うーん、色々と物足りない……なぁ。
