題材の選び方と表現の面白さに爆笑しながらも、一抹の悲しさがいい意味で後味悪く残ります。
町田康さんの作品には、アウトロー（の道を進もうと四苦八苦する人）の視点から世俗の社会を語るという
基本テーマがあると思うのですが、『権現の踊り子』では特に大衆の悲しさが強調して描かれています。
かといって嫌味があるわけでもありません。町田作品の中では比較的ストーリーがしっかりしていて読みやすく、
なおかつ独特の小気味いい文体も健在です。
収録作品の『矢細君のストーン』もお気に入りです。「ヒコーキノッタラ…」のくだりが頭にこびりついて離れません。

この内容で580円？　安すぎる！　いやぁ面白い！
何か町田康の頭の中に入って脳味噌の皺を数えてる感じ。
なんか「逆水戸」が人気あるみたいですけど個人的には
「ふくみ笑い」が好きです。あっ！でも「矢細君のストーン」
と「工夫の減さん」も好き。って言うか全部好き！
でもやっぱ「ふくみ笑い」が一番かなぁ。
個人的に･･･あくまで個人的な意見ですが「ふくみ笑い」が
この時点での町田康の集大成の様に思えてしまいました。
あの序盤のいつも以上に異常な被害妄想、神経過敏っぷり
から不思議なキャラ達。主人公の行動力及びにドライブ感。
そして終盤のトリップ感。あー面白っ。

表題「権現の踊り子」は勿論、併録されている他の作品
どれをとっても面白い。文庫化されて小さくなった分、
町田さんの描く世界もギュッと凝縮された感じがする。
単行本で発売された時にはあまり気にならなかった装丁
も、文庫になるとなんか濃密な感じでグッド。
町田康の二大名作「パンク侍斬られて候」「告白」へと
続くターニングポイントと呼ぶに相応しい作品ではない
でしょうか。今作から町田康の文章の方向性が確固たる
ものになってきています。　
音楽ネタや時代劇ネタ、町田さんならではの世界が展開
されているので、「浄土」よりもずっと距離が近い。町
田康の脳内縮図映像を堪能している感じ。

ただ残念なのは解説。玄侑宗久によるものだが、余りに
も酷い。折角の作品にドロを塗ってしまっている気が…。
一体これのどこが解説なのかしらん。
