ビックマックを使った貨幣価値の紹介から始まる。

インフレとデフレの意味するところは何か？
それを、政府を経済法人と捉えて、教えてくれる。

自動車自給率１％以下の「謎」を使って、
政府が使う用語には、「用心」が必要なことを教えてくれる。

政府・マスコミが、
いかなる「手法」で国民を懐柔しているか？
それも、教えてくれる。

中央銀行の手足を政府が縛るとどうなるか？
国家権力が、お札を無尽蔵に印刷すると？
外国の最近の具体例をあげて、説明している。

そして、
この二桁円高が、いかに「日本」を幸福にするか？
示唆してくれる。
「日本」としたのは、
必ずしも「現日本政府」は、望まないかもしれないから。
そういったことが、本書を読んでいると浮かんでくる。

最終章にある、
公共投資としての「水パイプライン」構想が、秀逸である。

円高は海外旅行の好機ぐらいにしか理解していなかったが、庶民にとって、こんなにメリットがあるとは、まさに目からうろこである。業者は原料費が高くなったからとあらゆるものを値上げしておきながら、円高で非常に安くなった今頬被りするのは許せない。
政府からオイルの援助金をせしめた漁業者も、原油がこんなに値下がりしたのだから差額を返還したらどうなの。税金で援助すべきところはほかにいっぱいあるのだから。

読むならまさに今が旬だと思います。
最近の「超円高」がもたらす影響を中心に、政府の経済政策や官僚システムの腐敗ぶり、日本が資源大国となる可能性(?)、などなど、日本経済が直面している事象について分かりやすく説明されています。
特に、円高などといった経済事象が善か悪かといった議論をする際には、「誰にとって」という視点が欠かせないという主張は、非常に納得性がありもっともだと感じました。
また、「円安教」「インフレ待望教」「政府は一つの法人」といった独特のフレーズや、随所に例え話が織り込まれていることなどから、非常に読みやすく感じられます。
それにしても、本書で明らかにされているような事実や主張が、マスコミなどであまり取り上げられてないことに不満を感じます。本書の内容をすべて是と結論づけるつもりはありませんが、マスコミは視聴率目当てのくだらない番組を流すくらいなら、もっと経済専門の番組を増やすべきだし、何より日本人がもっと勉強すべきだと強く感じました。
