西脇 順三郎
1894・1・20~1982・6・5。詩人。英文学者。新潟県生まれ。慶応義塾大学卒。画家を志し上京するも断念。1922年、渡英。英文詩集を出版後、帰国し、慶大教授に就任。「詩と詩論」に拠り、新詩運動の中心となるも、軍国主義の時代は詩筆を断つ。戦後、47年に14年間の沈黙を破り『旅人かへらず』を発表。以後、詩、詩論、英文学研究に旺盛なる活動をなす(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)
