砲火に身を曝（さら）してシャッターを切るとき、無論、明日の未来はありませんが、こうして今、一分一秒を生きている実感は重く、充実しています。



著者紹介

1947年、佐賀県武雄市生まれ。1970年、日本大学芸術学部写真学科卒業、UPI通信社東京支局で働く。1972年3月、ガンボジアに行き、フリーの戦争カメラマンとしてスタート。以後、ベトナム戦争を1年間取材し、「アサヒグラフ」「ワシントンポスト」など、内外のマスコミで活躍した。1973年11月、アンコールワットへ単独潜行したまま消息を断ち、1982年、両親によってその死亡が確認された。

この同タイトルの映画がきっかけで本を読んでみた。彼の手記の中には映画では垣間見ることの無かった一ノ瀬が現れたり（風俗通ってたなど）しておもしろかった。あと、親との手紙のやり取りは泣けた。手紙を主に使うことで、テンポよく、彼が同じ文を読んでる、書いてるのを想像しながら読めてよかった。

とりつかれたようにアンコールを目差す一ノ瀬は、その目的を果たす寸前で死んだ。しかし、そこまでの過程は無鉄砲ですがすがしい。ここまでのめり込める目標とか目的を持って生きた彼はとても気持よく、赤裸々な日記から彼の人間性が垣間見え、とても面白い作品だ。同名の映画も浅野忠信が一ノ瀬を好演している。こちらも必見だ。

シリアスなレポかと思っていた。
実際にカンボジアを旅行する際に読んだので、カンボジア人の明るさ、優しさ、いい加減さには何度も頷いた。
そしてそれを上回る一ノ瀬 泰造のタフさ、調子の良さ、お気楽さ。
戦争を撮ることを心から楽しんでおり、本当に不死身なのかな、と思わせる程。
作中にもあるが、母親の文章も見事。
息子を心配しつつ、しかし日本での日々を楽しみを報告する彼女の手紙。
そんな両親に、一ノ瀬が繰り返す、あのセリフにぐっとくる。
悲壮感もなく、説教臭くもなく、過剰な演出もない、秀逸の戦争ルポだと思う。
