2.0 out of 5 stars ちょーっと勘違い？, 2006/11/7
　日本では作者の第四弾目ですが、一応９８年のデビュー作です。
　著者は文系と理系という極端な題材選びが目立ちますが、スピード感などは
『デセプション・ポイント』と本書の“理系”が圧倒的に上だと思います。
適度に二転三転する真相は手に汗握るし、出てくる職人気質のキャラクターはドラマ『２４』を彷彿させます。

　しかし、やはり日本人として避けては通れない違和感が（笑）
奇妙な仏教感と日本人名は「う〜ん？？？」と、つっかえてしまいます。
原爆にも触れていますが、あくまでストーリーの延長線上にある「ネタの一つ」であり、
メッセージ性にまで届いていないのが、やっぱり釈然としません。仕方ないことですけど。
原爆による被爆で反米意識を持っていたキーパーソンのタンカドが、真珠湾の本を読んで
コロリと復讐心を捨てたというエピソードを読むと、「あー作者はアメリカ人なんだよな」
と、苦笑してしまいました。

ストーリーにおいては、指輪探しのベッカーが幸運続きだったり、後半にかけてご都合主義が
許容範囲を超えたりと、むむむぅ・・・な感じ。

ま、深く考えずに、秘密のベールに包まれたＮＳＡが舞台の数少ないフィクションとして楽しめばＯＫ？
映画化向け作品です！

謎解きは『ダ･ヴィンチ･コード』や『天使と悪魔』に較べると少ないです。やはり著者の処女作ということで割り引いて読んだ方が宜しいかと。
ですがNSA(国家安全保障局)があまり公になっていない時期にこれだけの内容を書けるというのは秀逸とすべき。それと主人公の男女がいつもHappy Endで終わるのは安心して読める点でもあろう。

ヒット作を生み出した作者のデビュー作ということで読んでみました。
10年前の作品＋にもかかわらずコンピューターが題材
という点を除いても、荒削りすぎる感はいなめませんでした。
時代が古いものでも、今読んでも十分楽しめる作品はいっぱいあります。

上下2冊ながら、会話文が多すぎてあっという間に読めてしまいます。
また、キーパーソンが日本人ですが、名前が日本人とはわからないくらい
？？？なネーミングです。
エンカドって・・・。どんな漢字を当てはめるのか、考え込んでしまいました。
エンカドさんも日本にはいらっしゃるのかもしれませんが、
日本人、として作品に登場させるのなら、せめて日本人が「あ、日本人の
名前だ」と気づける程度のネーミングにして欲しかったです。
また、ブッダについての記載がありますが、クリスチャンにとっての
キリストと、日本人にとってのブッダは同価値ではない、ということも
知らないのでは！？と思われました。
また、訳者のあとがきにも「日本人に対しての誤解と思われる箇所は
訂正しています」とありましたが、
ということはもっと誤解だらけだったということでしょう。
日本人、また日本の歴史を重要なキーとして登場させているのにもかかわらず
研究不足としか思われないのが大変残念でした。
