ついにこの巻でシャア・アズナブルが誕生する。
キャスバルからシャアにどのようにして変わったのか。
どうして士官学校に入学できたのか。
積年の謎がついに明らかになる。

その他、黒い３連星が登場。
アムロも初登場？
今まででおそらく一番若いであろうハモンもちょっとだけ登場。

ストーリーも魅力的だがちょっとした遊び心がファンにはたまらない。

９巻から続く後編　早く読みたかった。
シャアとセイラの養父は本当にいい人で
心からの二人への愛が読み取れて、こんなところでちょっと泣けた。

クランプがバーテンの酒場の小さな歴史や
ドズルの武骨だがやさしい性格（奥さんが美人だったのも納得）
ミライ父子、落ちぶれたラルと一番美しいハモン
登場人物がこれでもかと出てきて面白かった。
最後は横わけガルマが〆てます。

第10巻は前巻に続いてシャアとセイラの幼少時代を収録。
内容的には前巻の続きになります。
この巻でようやくシャア・アズナブルが歴史の表舞台に立つきっかけをつかむことになります。
しかも、まっとうな手段ではなく、血塗られた手段で・・・。
生い立ちとその後に理由を求めることができるのかもしれませんが、彼もまた運命に翻弄された不幸な人だったのかもしれません。
といっても、この宇宙世紀の時代には、もっと不幸な人もたくさんおみえだったとは思いますが。
とにもかくにも、ご覧になるならば第9巻とセットでご覧になるのがよろしいです。
