犯人が犯人を推理する？ちょっと変わったミステリー小説・・・
始めは退屈しのぎで読んでいたが、あまりにもストーリーがテンポ良く進むので思わず明け方まで一気に読んでしまった（眠）
スキージャンプの世界をベースにしているが、全く予備知識などが無くても読めるし、科学の力を利用して大量に鳥人（超人）を作ろうとする話に絡めた殺人事件からこんなに二転三転するどんでん返しのラストになるとは・・・
最後に様々な伏線が繋がったときの気持ちよさといったら読んで人にしか分からないでしょう！

単なる殺人事件ミステリーではなく、
その背景に、スポーツ科学がどこまで許されるか、
というテーマがあるのが非常にいい。

発達するスポーツ科学。
人間をサイボーグ化し勝利することがいいことなのか、
一方、行き過ぎたスポーツ科学トレーニングをしなくて、
負けてしまえば何も評価されないという勝負第一主義。
そのようなテーマを殺人事件仕立てにしたという点で、
非常におもしろい作品だと思います。

日本のジャンプ界に彗星のように現れた楡井がジャンプ直後に死亡。彼のコーチである峰岸が逮捕される。もっとも動機がなくアリバイが完璧だった峰岸がなぜ逮捕されたのか？

本作品は、ミステリーであると共に、スポーツの在り方を問いかける作品である。
ある意味、スポーツは、レベルが上に行くほど勝つことを求められる世界である。

「現在のスポーツ界において、人間らしさとは敗北を意味する。それとも科学を駆使した勝利よりも、人間らしさを追求した敗北の方が価値があるとおっしゃるのですか」
作品中に問われる、この問いかけに、スポーツ界のおかれた難しさ・葛藤が凝縮されている。

本作品は、ミステリー作品としては作者の平均点。

初出が94年ということを考えると、まあこんな物かもし!れない。
私にとって☆は３と４の間である。
