読者の多くは山内練というキャラクターを他の作品で読んでいたのだと思うけれど、実は私は他の作品を読まずにこれを読んだので、途中から山内がラストで死ぬのではないかとビクビクしていた。
迂闊な話だが、山内が柴田よしきの先行小説に登場していることを、まったく知らなかったのだ。
読みながら山内練の苦しみを思い、なんとか生きていてほしいと願い、たどり着いたラストでは、これが作者さんの精一杯のハッピーエンドなのかもしれないと思った。
読み方としては逆順かもしれないけれど、これから他の作品を読んで、そこに登場する山内練と会えるのを楽しみに思う。

上下巻で結構ページ数もあるこの「聖なる黒夜」は読み始めてから止まらなくなりとうとう一日と一晩で読み終えてしまいました
人間ドラマの要素とミステリーの要素がうまく絡まって続きが気になり気になり
ページをめくる手が止まりませんでした

柴田よしきさんの小説に出てくる登場人物一人ひとりがとても魅力的です
今回の主要人物である麻生と練は今までの柴田作品（ＲＩＣＯシリーズ、花咲シリーズなど）の中で登場していましたがこの二人にスポットをあてた作品が読めて本当に嬉しかったです

この本を読み終わった人、そしてこれから読む人はこの二人が出てくるシリーズも読むときっと面白さが倍増すること間違いナシです

この二人のその後の話が読めるのを私は楽しみに待っている次第です

この作品を読んでしまえばきっと柴田作品のとりこになってしまうはずです
実際私がそうなってしまったように･･･

この『聖なる黒夜』を読んで、私は山内練の虜になりました。とても強いけれど脆く、大胆なのに繊細。柴田よしきさんが生み出した山内練というキャラクターは、とても魅力的です。是非読んでみてください。山内の他にも麻生、及川、韮崎、田村など、沢山の魅力的なキャラクターが出てきます。上下巻でボリュームがありますが、読み耽ってしまいました。また、文庫化の際に、番外編が収録されており、新しい山内練の世界を見られたことが嬉しかったです。
