薬師丸ひろ子さんのセーラー服姿を覚えている方は多いと思いますが、今回は長澤まさみさんがテレビドラマで挑戦。何となくなつかしく思い本を読みました。主人公の女子高校生がヤクザに体当たり。テレビや映画とは違うよさを小説から読み取って下さい。

僕はセーラー服と機関銃の映画・主題歌が大ヒットした時、まだ生まれていませんでした。しかし今年、長澤まさみ主演のドラマとして蘇る!ということでこの原作本を読んでみました。始めは昔の作品だからジェネレーション・ギャップを感じるかな…と思ったのですがほとんど古い表現がなく読みやすかったです。ドラマを見て原作も読んでみようかな?と思った人は是非読んでみて下さい!星泉という女性に惹かれますよ(笑)

本棚の整理をしていたら、奥の方から出てきました。そういえばどこかに出かけるとき、電車の中で読む本を持って出るのを忘れ、品揃いの少ない駅の売店で買ったなぁ、なんてことを思い出しながら、再読しました。
当代きっての多作家にしてベストセラー作家、赤川次郎ですが、初期の頃の二、三作しか読んだことがありません。が、この初期の頃の二、三作というのがよくできていて、デビュー作でもある『幽霊列車』や『マリオネットの罠』などは、とてもおもしろかった。
『セーラー服と機関銃』も、今になっては初期の頃に属する作品で、女子高生が弱小ヤクザの組長になって奮闘するという設定のおかしさ、読者を飽きさせないスピーディーな展開、何より（いい意味で）ササッと読めてしまう手軽さ、さらには映画化されるといったベストセラーの条件がそろった一作です。
続編もあるみたいです。再読したついでにそちらも読んでみようかな。
