実際にモデルの病院があると知り愕然とした。
患者の未収金が２億円もあるなんて、
病院では医療費は支払わなければ帰宅できないのでは？
どうやってそんなことができるのか？
今まで「謙虚でおとなしい」と称賛されていた日本人の真の姿は、
医療現場では個々に主張し自分の内を守る、
これらのクレーマーなのかもしれない。
著者は医療サスペンスのスタイルを取りながらも、
実は崩壊した日本人のモラルを取り戻すことを提言しているのかもしれない。

地域医療に関わる者として、感想を述べる。

福島県立大野病院の事件や、夕張市の破綻など、現実に起きた問題を題材にして地域医療の行く末を問題提起した作品である。

結末があまりに中途半端だと他のレビューで書かれているが、あえて作者の意図を深読みするとその答えがみえてくるのではないか。現実の事例をもとに展開する海堂ワールドに、地域医療の結末は描かれていない。
「法の論理がすべてに優先する世界」であっても瀕死の医療現場が「治療」されることを、作者は願っているのだろう。

刻一刻と浸水する泥船に、心底不安だがもう少しだけ乗っていようと思った。

同じ登場人物が出て来るので一冊をよみながら他の本も読み返すという何度でも楽しめる作りになっております。この本も。医療制度の批判はどなたかもおっしゃっておりましたがまだまだ甘い。現場はもっともっと疲れきっております。独りよがりな官僚政治家の愚策のおかげで。
