　私は今、子育て真っ最中。著者が赤ちゃんの立場になって話をしている形式なのですが、ひとことひとことが、もう我が子が言っていることなのではないかと思うくらい。読み始めたらとまりませんでした。
　もっと早くこの本にであっていてもよかったかも。

　ページをめくるたびにとなりにいる主人にほらこれこれと読んで聞かせたくなる内容です。続編の「私は2歳」もぜひ読みたいと思っています。

　松田道雄が１９６０年、このような歴史的な題名の本を岩波新書から出したことに驚きを感じます。
　
　「育児というものは大人が大人の価値観で子どもを型にはめていく行為である」という常識を打ち破ろうとしたのです。
　
　彼の言葉で好きなのは「子どもはその年齢において一個の人間として完成しているのである」です。
　子どもと対峙しないといけないとき、私はこの松田の言葉を思いだします。
　赤ちゃんも赤ちゃんなりに、その年なりに完成した人間である。
　この視点で、赤ちゃんをみると、今までみえなかったことが見えるようになります。
　赤ちゃんは保護されないといけないかもしれないが、それなりに個性があり、それを大切にして育てることは大切だ。
　松田の「子育て」あるいは「育児」の常識への不適な挑戦です。
　「私は赤ちゃん」と赤ちゃんは主張している。言葉では言わないが、そういう存在である。
　すばらしい本です。
　松田の、日本社会の育児にたづさわる母親や保母さんたちへの核心をついた題名。
　松田道雄はやはり天才ですね。
　大人の価値観で育てられてきたものにとっては、自己を振り返る言葉であり、子どもとどう生きていくかを考えさせた言葉でした。
　夏目漱石の「我が輩は猫である」は猫の世界から人の世をみた作品でした。
　松田道雄の「わたしは赤ちゃん」は赤ちゃんは赤ちゃんの世界から人の世を観ているのだ。すごいなぁ！！

父親になる前に読みましたが、父親になった後も役に立つ本です。
イラストが上品で、読んでいてすがすがしい気分になります。
育児の際に直面する様々な問題に対し、赤ちゃん目線で簡潔に
アドバイスをくれるという方式なので、読んでいて面白く、
ためになります。育児というのは、本当に大変ですがこの本を
参考にし、肩の力を抜いて子供を大事に育てていきましょう。
