たとえば、「蠅がうなるとき、そのときわたしは」と題したエッセイ。

冬だというのに、陽気な天気に誘われて飛んできた蠅の羽音に、
小池さんは「甘美な眠りをぶち壊され」ます。
しかし、小池さんは怒るでもなく、自分の眠りを覚ました羽音と、
坐禅時にうとうとしかけた人の肩をたたく「警策」の類似を感じ取ります。

小池さんの思いはとどまるところを知りません。こう書いています。
「羽音はむしろ、蠅の存在を気づかせるものなのに、
それが同時に、わたし自身を気づかせるものとなった。
蠅だ、というのと、わたしだ、というのが、ほとんど同時に、
わたしに来た。蠅はわたしだ、というほどに、同時に」

その独特の繊細かつ鋭い感性に、私は一目惚れしてしまいました。
