ナルニア国物語全7冊が一冊にまとまった合巻本のペーパーバック判です。
ペーパーバックですが、本文の紙質は真っ白で少し厚め、印刷もくっきりとして美しいものです。背表紙も結構しっかりしており、丈夫そうです。

表紙のアスランの絵は別のイラストレーターのものですが（これはこれで惹かれます）、本の中にはポーリン・ベインズ氏のモノクロイラストが収められています。が、各話の扉と各章の最初に1カットずつしか掲載されておらず、かなりの量がカットされています。地図は掲載されています。

イラストがカットされているのが、少々、残念。ハードカバー判の合巻本は挿絵もすべてフルカラーで収められており、表紙もポーリン・ベインズ氏自身のカラー絵なので、カラーイラストが全部収録されているものが良い方は、ハードカバー判の方をお勧めします。
ただし、テーブルや膝に置かねば読めない大きさと重さ、それなりのお値段です。

このペーパーバック版はＡ5強の大きさ（縦が長め）で厚さは約4センチ。
年代記順に全話収録。
ハードカバー判ほど大きくなく読みやすいので、手軽な値段で全話が読めればいいという方にお勧めです。

個人的には、ベインズ氏のカラーイラストよりモノクロイラストの方が好きなので、全部収録されていれば、文句なく星5つの造本でした。ナルニア国物語のお話自体には星5つ。

カセットやCDで聴ける文学作品には本品のような朗読と、BBCなどのラジオドラマがあります。Narniaでは"The lion, the witch and the　wardrobe"のBBCラジオドラマ版が入手可能です。面白さという点では効果音なども入っているラジオドラマが勝るかと思いますが、朗読の方も英語的抑揚のつけ方など勉強になるところが多々あり、捨てがたい魅力があります。いずれにせよ、Narniaは子供向けの作品なので英語はやさしいのですが、内容は成人の鑑賞に耐えます。というか、一度は読むべき作品ですので、どうせなら英語で聴いて鑑賞しましょう。英語の勉強と考えても、へたな英語教材を買うよりよっぽど効率的でしょう。

　名作の誉れ高い本作のことは、子供の頃から知っていましたが、読むのは初めてでした。
（フィリップ・プルマンのヒズ・ダーク・マテリアルズ３部作を読んだ後だったので、プルマンの作品に出てくる多重世界観が、すでにこのナルニア国物語に出ていることに驚きを感じました。）

　話は、とても面白くて、わくわくしながら読めます。しかも人間のさがや、その苦さが映し出されており、大人にも向いた本だと思います。
　物語としては、かなりお薦めです。

　ただ、ルイス本人の物の見方で書かれており、宗教色も強いということを念頭においておく必要を感じました。
