International Standards and Formats
Please take note of the information below regarding product
standards, formats, and subtitles before ordering. We cannot accept the return
of opened media items unless the return is a result of our error.
DVDs
Presently six global region designations identify which DVDs are
compatible with players typically sold in those regions. The majority of
current titles play in only one specific region unless otherwise noted.
DVDs sold by Amazon.co.jp--unless otherwise indicated--are encoded for Region 2
(Japan, Europe, South Africa, and the Middle East) only and may not work on DVD
players in other countries. Following are the six regions and their
corresponding numerical equivalents:
- 1 - U.S., U.S. territories, and Canada
- 2 - Japan, Europe, South Africa, and the Middle
East, including Egypt
- 3 - Southeast Asia and East Asia, including Hong
Kong
- 4 - Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Mexico,
Central America, South America, and the Caribbean
- 5 - Former Soviet Union, Indian subcontinent,
Africa, North Korea, and Mongolia
- 6 - China
You will find region information for a specific DVD in our catalog
on the product information page.
DVDs sold on Amazon.co.jp are not subtitled (in English or in
Japanese) unless specifically indicated on the product information page.
Videos
All videos sold by Amazon.co.jp follow the 60 Hz, NTSC format,
which is used in Japan and North America. These tapes will not play on most
video machines in countries that use PAL (Europe, Australia, China, and parts
of the Middle East), SECAM (France), or other video standards.
Videos sold on Amazon.co.jp are not subtitled (in English or in
Japanese) unless specifically indicated on the product information page.
Video Games
All video-based products like TVs, VCRs, DVD players, and game
consoles are manufactured to be compatible with the broadcast standards used in
the country where these products are distributed. Therefore, a game distributed
in a particular country would work only on equipment distributed in that
country and may not work on other machines. There are no converters or adapters
that can reliably change a game's programming to another broadcast standard.
At this time we cannot ship video games to destinations outside
Japan.
