   第29話「別れの日」において、ついにミライの正体がメビウスであることがリュウに知られてしまい、30話「約束の炎」ではGUYS全員がそれを知る ことになる。これまでのウルトラマン・シリーズで、シリーズ中盤にしてウルトラマンの正体が公になるという展開はなく、そういう意味で「ウルトラマンメ ビウス」は掟破りのシリーズ構成を成し遂げた。さらに待望のウルトラ兄弟の客演が実現。メビウスの教官を務めたウルトラマンタロウの登場、しかも石丸博也がその声をアテるとあって、第2次ブーマーたちは感涙必至。無双鉄神との肩書きにふさわしい、漆黒の強敵インペライザーの不気味で豪快な暴れっぷりといい、単にミライの正体がバレるだけの話ではなく、そこから“仲間と共に戦う”ことの意義を見いだすまでが、丁寧に語られた傑作イベント編。
   直木賞受賞作家・朱川湊人がシナリオを執筆した第32話「怪獣使いの遺産」だが、「怪獣使いと少年」に比べ、いかんせん主題の掘り下げ方が足りない感は否めない。そのためメイツ星人ビオに手を差し伸べる保育園の園児や先生の言葉に重みが感じられないのは残念。ただしメビウスとゾアムルチの雨の中の戦いはオリジナルを踏襲し、オリジナルを彷彿とさせるクォリティ。雨に濡れたメビウスのぬるっとした生物感、作り込まれたミニチュアを横移動で捉えたカメラワークは見ごたえがある。（斉藤守彦）

5.0 out of 5 stars 何度目かの「まるで最終回」！ この第八巻を最初に買っても◎！, 2007/3/7
この番組のテーマとも言うべき「友情と成長」が第十九話目ぐらいで円熟し、停滞してしまったまま何話かが過ぎて今回、スタッフさんが取った行動は、「メビウスの正体を隊員たちにバラしてより親密になってもらおう」という、まさにウルトラダイナマイト級の捨て身技でした。
ところがこれが大成功。「メビウス最後の戦い」にみなぎる緊張感は凄まじく、ちょっとしたアクション映画を見ているような気分になります。暫定最強の敵・インペライザーの圧倒的存在感や、「教官」ウルトラマンタロウの堂々たる活躍、そして、平素は空回り上等のリュウ隊員（笑）の歯車がストーリーにがっちりハマリ、大人も泣けるセリフを連発してくれるのがたまりません（その反動か、第三十二話では思いっきり！空回りします）。
正体をばらして、地球にとどまって、これから先はどうなるの？という疑問の回答編となるのが、新章第一話（これも何度目やら）となる第三十一話。インペライザーにも引けをとらない無茶な暴れっぷりをかます新円盤生物ロベルガーも必見です。
打って変わって、ネット上でも放送直後から賛否両論が吹き荒れた第三十二話は、いわゆる「前作」のバッドエンディングぶりを期待した人にはおおむね不評のようですが、小学校高学年向け道徳のような内容は、個人的に、子供向け番組にはあってほしいファクターだと思ってます。（たまーに忘れてしまうのですが、これ、子供向け番組なんですよネ）

第29・30話において、ウルトラマンメビウスに突如光の国への帰還命令が下されました。この時送り込まれてきたインペライザーとの戦いの中で、ヒビノミライはウルトラマンメビウスその人であるという素性をGUYSクルーに知られてしまいます。しかし、それでもGUYSクルーがミライを仲間として受け入れたことで彼らの絆はさらに深まり、ウルトラマンメビウスは引き続き地球で戦うことになりました。

同時に、ウルトラマンと地球人の友情の物語が新たなステージへと踏み出していくのです。

この重要なエピソードにはウルトラマンメビウスの師であるウルトラマンタロウが客演しました。仮の姿・東光太郎は登場しませんでしたが、『ウルトラマンタロウ』本編のストーリー上(劇中)では「ウルトラの母が東光太郎にウルトラの命を授けたことによってウルトラマンタロウが誕生した」ということになっているため、『ウルトラマンメビウス』の世界におけるウルトラマンタロウは、間違いなく東光太郎その人です。

メビウスとガイズの友情は、もう涙なしでは観れません。
不覚にも数年ぶりに泣いてしまいました・・・。

いままで、こんなにアツいウルトラマンがあっただろうか、いやない！！
