~各出演者のキャラクターがはっきりし、そのバックグラウンドまで見えてきます。
特に興味深いのは、テキサス殉職の一つ前の放送分。山さんの養子の病気・ちょうさんの娘の結納など、生活感をうまく演出してます。また、別の回でも、ゴリさんの婚約解消もあり、刑事ドラマから、ヒューマンドラマに移行しつつあります。番組的にも余裕が出てきた頃なのでしょ~~うか？細部までの作り込みに脱帽です。~

このBOXでテキサスが殉職していくことになりますが、それ以外にも刑事達のプライベートにかかわる、心に残る名作が目白押しになっています。
順を追っていくと、第194話「兄妹」で殿下の美人の妹が登場。
第200話「すべてを賭けて」では、ゴリさんがこれまで度々登場して愛を育んでいた婚約者と別れてしまうという、それまでの経過を見てきた人には非常に残念で切ないエピソード。
第206話「刑事の妻が死んだ日」では、幼い子を養子として引き取ったばかりの山村家に訪れた突然の悲劇。太陽にほえろ！全話を通してこれほどまでに泣いた山さんは見られません。
そして最後に第216話「テキサスは死なず！」で太陽にほえろ！史上で屈指の壮絶さを誇るテキサス殉職。今作のテキサスと、次のボン殉職が派手だったため、その後の殉職は抑え目にしていたようだ。個人的にも第363話「13日金曜日ボン最期の日」はとても印象に残っているエピソードです。

テキサス&ボンは、ジーパンの後なのでさほど強い記憶があるわけではないのですが、刑事ドラマの傑作としてもっと見直されていいと思います。
山さんもでてくるしね。
