この作品は、原田知世主演の角川映画のうち、最後まで映像作品になってなかった作品で、噂では角川春樹監督作品で著作権の問題でDVD化は困難といわれていました。まさかこんなに早くDVDで見れるとは思っていなかったので、感激です。

「時をかける少女」に続く主演第２作目となるこの映画の中では、知世さんが半年レッスンを重ねて、代役無しでダンスシーンに挑戦。見ごたえがあります。また、今回のDVDでは、現在入手困難な「１６歳のグラフィティ」などの映像作品も特典として収録。絶対初回盤をGET！

原田知世の主演2作目で、やっとのリリース。角川春樹自らメガホンを取り、当時知世にかけた並々ならぬ期待と愛情を感じさせる作品。しかし製作者としては超一流、角川映画で一時代を築いた春樹監督、残念ながら監督としては？で、当時も前作「時をかける少女」が傑作だっただけに仕上がりには拍子抜けした記憶が。和製ミュージカルを目指し、物語も「足長おじさん」をベースとした少女のファンタジーというところに監督の指向が伺えて面白い。しかし妙に暗い話になり、そのアンバランスが当時の角川映画の特徴か。監督としては自己満足の問題作が多いが、ﾌﾟﾛﾃﾞｭｰｻｰとしての目は確かで一流のｽﾀｯﾌを揃えており、仙元誠三のカメラで捉えた渡瀬恒彦と知世が抱擁する中盤のクライマックスは名場面となっている。林哲司作曲の主題歌も名曲でその場面の効果をあげている。何だかんだ言っても、当時のファンにとっては必見の作品。

初回盤特典のディスクは、とても満足の出来るものでした。
しかし、肝心の本篇ディスクに若干不満が有ります。たしか、監督の意図だったと思うのですが
「愛情物語」というメイン・タイトルを英語表記し スタッフ、キャストのクレジットを廃しています。
裏ジャケットに、主要スタッフ、キャストは掲載してますが、もう少し詳しいリストを付けて欲しかった。あと、当時のヒット作「フットルース」「フラッシュダンス」を意識した洋楽(一部は原田知世の曲)で構成されているが、クレジットが無い為、曲目や歌手名(殆ど無名だったと思う)が不明です。
チャプターシートに併記するか、場面チャプターとは別にミュージックチャプターを付けて欲しかった。
