記憶の中で初めて見た映画がこの《ローマの休日》でした。遠い昔、幼稚園生のころ、たまたま付けたテレビにオードリーが現れました。そのころはタイトルもきっとストーリーも理解出来なかったように思います。でもオードリーの立ち振る舞いの美しさ、ストーリーのテンポのよさにわくわくして観たように思います。そして、高校生の時、昔の映画ばかり上映していた映画館（現在はどうなっているんだろう？）で学校を抜け出して一日中、《ローマの休日》を観ていたこともありました。幼い頃から今まで何度観ても、泣いて笑って感嘆のため息が出ます。女の子が夢みる、きらびやかさと愛と強さを演じるオードリーの美しさは、永遠に私の中で生きています。

昔から映画好き、オードリー好きな母へ、クリスマスプレゼントとして、このＢＯＸをプレゼントしました。以前、“ローマの休日の撮影場所を巡る”ローマ旅行のツアーに、それまで、一度も海外旅行をしたことのない、母と一緒に行きました。それ以降、何度か母は海外旅行に行っていますが、その旅行が忘れられな様で、今でも“またあのツアーがあったら行きたいね”と言っていました。今回、この特典映像が付いたＤＶＤは、そんな母への、うってつけのプレゼントになりました！映像もデジタル処理され鮮明になり、特典映像も、撮影秘話や撮影場所が紹介され、訪れたことのある私達は、とても興奮して鑑賞しました！

ヘップバーンの魅力にうっとりします。
もちろん、映画館の大画面で見るのが最高ですが、いつでもヘップバーンを見ることが出来るのは嬉しいですよ。
「パリの恋人」のフレッド・アステアが踊る闘牛シーンのダンスを見ると、現代のハイスピードカメラで撮影した映像も陳腐に思えます。
