純とタマコにおこる意外なストーリー展開。そのとき、五郎の
見せた「誠意」とは・・・
誠意と言葉で言うのは容易いが、それを実行するときの難しさ。

草太の結婚や、蛍の初恋の行方、そして五郎に降りかかる大き
な事件・・・
前・後編に分かれた、はじめてのスペシャルですので、見応えは
十分にあります。

「巣立ち」は全作品の中でも特別抜きん出た知名度ではないけれど、自分の中では最も印象に残っている作品だ。年齢的には純よりわずかに年下という私の年齢のせいもあろうが、この作品がちょうどこのような作品に多感な年だったせもあった。

そういうわけでそれ以前の作品は全く見た事が無かったのだが、結構すんなりと話に入っていけた。本作品は蛍は殆ど出演しておらず、純と北海道の五郎を軸に展開している。「初恋」で上京した後→「帰郷」→「巣立ち」と事実上東京をメインとしたロケの最終章ともなった作品だ。ガススタンドで働く純という設定も都会の苦労が伝わってきた。相手の子を妊娠させて、五郎が謝りに上京する時、普通ならば現金を持っていくところを南瓜をもっていくシーンは泣けた。

　「北の国から」のシリーズの中で、「巣立ち」は一番衝撃を受けたなぁって思います。タマコの妊娠、アイコの流産、父から離れて行く蛍、井戸を掘る五郎、生きた五郎・・・。
　
　内容はドロドロしているけど、でも涙なしには見られないと思う作品です。
