ゴッホの絵のファンか、あるいはその人そのものに興味がある人に最適です。本人の手紙なので思想の変遷、喜怒哀楽、家族関係、絵画に対する考えも読み取れます。炎の人と言われるように短く劇的な生涯とのイメージがあるし、事実そうなのですが、手紙を読むと多くの人は感動をすると思いますた。有名なゴーギャンとの関係も本人同士の手紙があり興味深いです。本の終わりにゴッホの年譜があるので、参照しながら読むと事実関係がわかりやすいでしょう。去年、ゴッホ展に行き感動したためか、読後もしばらくぼんやりしてました。
