前作のたりないピースは貧困をテーマにしていましたが、
今作は環境問題がテーマ。

兄妹だからこそ、考え方が同じだったりする部分もあるのだけれども、
将さんは環境問題から自分のできることを考えるアウトサイド・インという考え方で
あるのに対して、あおいさんは自分の身の回りのことから環境に対して考えを広げる
インサイド・アウトという考え方をしているのだけれども、考え方は違えども、
行動にすれば行き着くところは同じであり、そういう対話がまた読んでいてとても共感できます。

氷山が崩れ落ちるシーンを観て、恐怖感を覚える人がいる一方で、実被害を受けている
島国の人がいて、でも、その氷山が溶けたおかげで暮らしが楽になったと思っている人たちもいる。
環境問題が一筋縄ではいかないのは、実被害が生じる場所と、その発生源に差異があることなんだろうと改めて気付かされました。

ぜひ多くの人に手にとってもらいたい本の一つです。

宮崎兄妹が、エコ先進国と目されているデンマークとグリーンランド（ここもデンマーク領だが）を旅する、という一冊。
実際の著者は別にいて、宮崎兄妹の旅の様子を三人称の視点から語り、時折本人たちのコメントが入る、という構成だ。

個人的には、「エコって大事！」と大上段に構えるような本は、ちょっと苦手である。
そして本書も基本的にはそういったノリなのだが、将くんとあおいちゃんのコメントは、意外にもわりと力が抜けている。
「意外とみんなエコとか気にしてないね」
「エコ先進国っていっても、日本とそんなに変わらないな」
そんな自然体の感想がとてもいい。
おかげで本書の「説教くささ」がずいぶん緩和されていて、むしろ読者の心に響いてくる。

そして、自然体のあおいちゃんの写真もかわいい。
そもそも彼女の写真目当てに買ったのか、と問われれば、そうだと答えざるを得ないのだが（笑）。

新しい大河ドラマの主役に抜擢されたとのことで、この本の「著者」に興味をもち、購入した。地球温暖化とデンマークのLOHASに関して書かれた本書は、距離感のない、とっつきやすい環境本に仕上がっている。

宮崎兄妹の素顔が写真や文章を通して垣間見え、読みやすくもある。が、文章の大半では兄妹が三人称で登場し、もう一人別の人間が書いていることに気付く（もちろん本の最後にはちゃんと著者が3人いることが記されているのだが）。

ともあれ、勉強になる内容だけでなく、表紙にもあるような、一面の雪を背景にした二人の写真はとても綺麗で、本棚にさしておきたくなるような一冊ではないかと思う。
