司馬遼太郎の長編小説を原作とする大型企画ドラマ『坂の上の雲』。

日本のテレビ史上これまでにないスケールを目指しNHKが総力を挙げて取り組んでいるドラマであり国内21都府県でのロケおよびスタジオ収録(2009年9月現在)、海外では、2次にわたるロシアロケ、中国、フランス、イギリス等でロケを実施。そして番組はいよいよ2009年11月より3年に亘って放送される。

ドラマ『坂の上の雲』の音楽を手掛けるのは日本を代表するコンポーザー久石 譲。壮大なスケール感。希望に満ちた旋律。坂の上の雲に向かってひたすらに歩み続けた明治人の世界が鮮やかによみがえるオリジナル・サウンドトラック。

「ちいさな光が　歩んだ道を照らす・・・」
サラ・ブライトマンの澄んだ優しい声に乗って始まる歌。
明治年間という新しい時代を生きた人々の
心の内に秘める熱い想いが伝わってくる気がします。
そして想いは自然と自分自身の生き方に。
とても素晴らしいアルバムです。
小説・ドラマともに相性のよい仕上がりになっていると思います。

一曲目のサラ・ブライトマンが歌うテーマ曲「Stand Alone」を聴いて、
「久しぶりの久石メロディー」だと感じ入りました。
このテーマ曲は、アルバムの中で、４バージョンあって、どれも
聴きごたえのあるもので、すぐに耳慣れしました。

また、最近の久石譲は、新日本フィルとの共演＆自ら指揮が多かったので、
外山氏の指揮＆ＮＨＫ響での演奏は、比較という意味で、とても興味深いものでした。

この作品の何曲かは、お馴染みのミニマルミュージック的な要素も含まれていて、
作曲家としての多彩さを感じることができます。

テーマ曲「Stand Alone」は、スタンダード曲に成りうる魅力をもった曲です。
是非、楽しんで聴いてみて下さい。
