内容紹介
2002年に筑摩書房より発行され、同社内の最高発行部数を誇る吉田篤弘の人気小説が原作。主役の「私」には『秋深き』に続き、2度目の主演となる八嶋智人。食堂に集まる常連客として、口の悪い舞台女優に元宝塚歌劇団の月船さらら、不思議な帽子店主に下條アトム、古書店主に田中要次、コーヒースタンドの無口なマスターにスネオヘアーが扮する。また、「私」が子供の頃に他界した父親役に生瀬勝久と個性豊かな出演陣が脇を固める。監督には『地下鉄に乗って』『山桜』の篠原哲雄。篠原監督にとってゆかりのある北海道でのオールロケを決行し、「どこからも遠い、世界の果てにあるような小さな食堂の物語を書こうとしていた」と話す原作者の吉田篤弘の想いを見事に叶える、幻想的な町が創り出されている。大きな出来事は起こらない―。「私」に起こる、ちょっとした日々の出来事を温かく見守る、そんな優しく心地のよい物語。
