４１枚目のシングルで、こちらは通常盤。

「ナインスマイル」ツアー前半に足を運んだファンなら、何の前触れもなくスタートしたタイトル曲「気まぐれプリンセス」に「？」となり、サビに来た辺りでようやく新曲である事に気付く・・・なんて事を経験したのではないだろうか。ひょっとして私だけか。その「気まぐれプリンセス」は、アラビアン・ナイトを思わせるバックのメロディがアクセントとなり、Ａ〜Ｂメロがやや高い声で歌われているのが印象的。「愛して 愛して 後一分」は、テクノサウンド中心のアップテンポな曲で、カップリングとしては充分過ぎる程、合格点な出来。

久住小春が卒業する為、この９人での楽曲はこれで最後となってしまった。この９人のメンバーは、モーニング娘。の歴史上、重要な事を証明した９人だと私は思っている。このメンバーで最初に発表した「女に幸あれ」からの楽曲や、ライヴ・パフォーマンスを思い出していただきたい。これまでモーニング娘。は、メンバーの入れ替えを繰り返して進化するグループとされていた。だが、「ボンキュッ！ボンキュッ！ＢＯＭＢ」「シングル大全集」「リゾナントＬＩＶＥ」・・・同じ事の焼き直しは一切やっていない。そうモーニング娘。は、メンバーの入れ替えが無くても進化するのである。それを究極の形で提示したのが、モーニング娘。の見せる技術を駆使した「プラチナ９ＤＩＳＣＯ」ツアーだった様な気がする。このラインナップは間も無く終わるが、最後の瞬間まで、現編成の強力なエネルギーとケミストリーを見逃してはならない。

リゾンナントブルー以来、聞いていてブルーになってしまう曲が多かったが、今回は思わず笑顔になる楽しい曲。
歌詞は今までの曲に見られるような唐突なフレーズが無く、よくまとまっている。ちょっとHな感じのするのも今のモーニング娘。の年齢ならアリだろう。
曲はAメロの細工がコミカルな印象を強め、サビは覚えやすくて耳に残る。「いいじゃな〜い♪」は高橋の歌声が実に良くはまる。
アレンジもロシア風らしいが、印象的でノリが良い。「ha!ha!」という掛け声はライブでも強いだろう。サビ直前にStringsが入り、一気に盛り上げる。歌い方も今までとは違って伸びやかになるが、それに合わせるよう。こういう仕掛けも評価できる。是非Instrumentalも聞いてほしい。

以上、どこをとっても素晴らしい。10年前に発売されていたら間違いなくミリオンだっただろう傑作である。

C/Wはレトロな感じがする。80年代のポップスというイメージ。こちらもノリの良い感じだが、タイトル曲と対比させるためにも、バラード調の曲でも良かったかもしれない。

最近は、昔のパーティソング的な明るい曲と違い、カッコよくてシャープな感じの曲が多いです。
どちらも良いですが、この曲調が今の娘。にとても合っています。そして何より、歌割りが上手くなったなと思います。声が変わる瞬間が曲に変化をもたらして、その配置がまた絶妙なのです！これは、皆が皆歌めちゃ上手いわけじゃないけれど、グループだからこそ出来る面白さです。
カップリングも、メロディが良いです。アレンジも良くて平田さんのアレンジは毎回、前奏や間奏の部分が素晴らしいです。何度も聞きたくなるクオリティの2曲だと思います。
後、さゆみん推しの僕的には、気まぐれプリンセスでソロ無いなとがっくりきましたが、カップリングでは結構ありますので、さゆみん推しの方にもおすすめの曲です!
