エレファントカシマシ、PONY CANYON時代の自選作品集。「悲しみの果て」や「風に吹かれて」「今宵の月のように」などの代表曲に加え、当時の未発表曲も収録されている。

レコード会社別の企画なので、本作に関してはわずか3枚のオリジナルアルバムからの選出となっている。そのおかげで各アルバムから均等に選ばれているかと思いきや、やはり２大アルバム「ココロに花を」「明日に向かって走れ-月夜の歌-」の曲が大半。憂いのメロディーが冴えていた「愛と夢」からは3曲のみで、同アルバムの名曲「夢のかけら」などはちゃっかり外れている。しかし初収録の「きみの面影だけ」は「愛と夢」期の曲。これがまた叙情的な名曲で、中盤の「愛と夢」ブロックもしっかり締め括っているのは流石。
だが何より「愛と夢」の曲を多少省いてでも、「月夜の散歩」や「昔の侍」などが入っているほうが宮本らしい浪漫のある選曲だと思う。

今でもライブの重要なポイントで演奏され愛され続けている、宮本のソングライティングとボーカルの才能が遺憾なく発揮されたポップな名曲群。愛や喜びを歌う素直なメロディー、それに寄り添ったフォーキーなギター、バンドのサウンドも一体となって歌を支えている。本当に素晴らしい歌ばかりだ。
これはエレファントカシマシが辿り着いたひとつの集大成である。

エレカシの売れていたPONY CANYON時代の自選作品集。

俺は初期のEPIC時代の方が好きだけど、お金が無いのでとりあえず未発表曲が入ってるこのアルバムを買った。

その未発表曲「きみの面影だけ」は、まあ悪くはないけどそんなに好きではないなって感じだった。

この時代のエレカシは一般受けするような曲を作るようになり、初期からのファンもかなり離れてしまった。

俺はライブで昔の曲もやってくれるなら売れてもいいと思ってる。

売れなくなって解散が一番よくない。

ブレイクのきっかけになったコンパクトな名曲「悲しみの果て」、宮本とベースの成ちゃんとの共作の明るい曲「せいので飛び出せ!」、サビメロが素晴らしい「赤い薔薇」、ドラマのタイアップでヒットした「今宵の月のように」が好きだな。

この「浪漫記」には、エレカシのＰＯＮＹ　ＣＡＮＹＯＮ時代の曲が収められています。
エレカシのギター弾き語りをしたいけれど、どのＣＤを買えばいいのか悩んでいる人は、まず最初にこの「浪漫記」を買うことをおすすめします。
なぜなら、このアルバムの中には、「戦う男」と「君の面影だけ」を除くすべての曲が「弾き語りエレファントカシマシＳＯＮＧ　ＢＯＯＫ」に入っているからです。
（しかしながら、エレカシのギター弾き語りをする人は、全部のアルバムをそろえていると思うので、ほんの豆知識でした。）
