ボブ・ディランから始まるが、効果的なコラージュによりものの数分で当時の状態が伝わってくる。
vol.1から観ているが、今回の編集は相当冴えてるように感じた。
それから当時のフォーク系リバイバルに視点を変えていって、ボブ・ディランのエレクトリック化が以下に衝撃的だったかを伝える。
又、ビートルズとボブ･ディランが双方で影響を与えあっている状況は今の世代には新鮮な驚きかもしれない。
ニューヨークそしてLAでのシーンとモンタレーのフェスから、フォーク、ロック、ジャズ、R&Bが入り混じった音楽祭によりシングルヒットの時代からアルバムの長尺な曲、メッセージ色やコンセプトの強い曲、実験的な音楽へ注目が集まって行く様を描いていく。
そして、ウッド･ストックだ。サンフランシスコの独自のミクスチャー文化。
ヒッピームーブメントとサイケ。ジミ･ヘンドリックスは黒人であるが故にイギリスに渡り、衝撃を与えて戻ってくる。お返しに、THE WHOがアメリカで大暴れ。
ドアーズがビートゼネレーションと呼応し、ビーチボーイズはビートルズに対抗するため、ツアーを止めて実験的なポップ交響楽『ペット・サウンズ』を製作する。
ここから皆こぞってコンセプトアルバムを作っていくようになる。
ジャニス･ジョプリンもこの時代を駆け抜けて大きな影響を残して去っていった。
バーズ、バッファロー・スプリングフィールド⇒CSN＆Yやグレイトフルデッドも注目を集める。
イギリスではクリームがでてくる。
ストーンズはアメリカに進出してやりたい放題だ。
この辺りの時代は本当にかなり豊穣な音楽を収穫してると思う。
そのほかにもスライ・ストーンとかニュー・ソウルなんかもあったはずだけれど、これはこの流れからだと除外するのも仕方ないだろう。
ウッドストックの映画は有名だけれど、このDVDもかなり良い線行ってると思います。
