遺伝子操作によって、生まれる前からその人の能力や肉体的特徴が決められる。これはそう遠くない未来に起こりうることかもしれない。しかし、そんな世の中において本来私たち一人一人がもつ「人間の価値」に果たしてどのような意味があるのだろう。そんなことを考えさせられた。イーサン・ホーク演じるビンセントが逆境の中、ひたすら夢に向かって突き進む姿、そしてそんな彼に起こる奇跡に胸打たれるいい作品！！特に、イーサン・ホークがワイングラスをタバコでくもらすシーンが素敵☆

観ていると終始胸が締め付けられる想いと最後に涙が止まりません。架空の設定ではありますが、近い将来有り得そうな社会。遺伝子の差別の中、完璧な体を手に入れても苦悩があり、また、不適合とされる体を強い夢で乗り越えることが出来た。どう生まれるかではなく、どう生きるか考えさせられる物語。ストーリーにも無駄がなく、一気に感情移入します

遺伝子研究はわれわれの思っている以上に進んでいて、将来かかる病気他寿命他ある程度の事は予測できるらしい。又病院の行っている数々の検査を行わなくても、病気の状況などはすぐわかる、そういう発表も呼んだことがある。
女性が精子バンクに群がり優秀な遺伝子を求め人工授精によって子を産む。
ハリウッドの有名女優もノーベル賞受賞学者の種によって子供を生んだ。
親子でスポーツ選手という家系、それは遺伝子か？環境か？
もちろん遺伝的に優れたものを持ち合わせていることは否めないがそれだけではものにはならない。

この映画で印象的なのは、主人公ビンセントが何度試験を受けても受け付けてもらえなかったガタカに、優秀な遺伝子を持つジェロニモに成り代わったことで無試験で入る事ができたという事。
その中で自分の夢をかなえようとしていくビンセント。
優秀な遺伝子を持っているだけでそのプレッシャーにつぶれたジェロニモ、その二人の対比である。
歩けないジェロニモの方が強靭な肉体を手に入れたビンセントより優秀とされる世界。
それを揶揄しているが決して笑えない。
これから遺伝子操作はどんどん進むだろう。
しかし多くの天才たちは決して完璧な遺伝子を持って生まれたわけではない、そのことを忘れないようにしなくてはならない。

まったく知識を持たないで見た映画だったが、非常に考えさせれた。
