“映写”に魅入られた少年の意志を貫く姿を映した作品です。
舞台が第二次世界大戦末期のイタリアということで、今の世界とは随分とは違った世界が広がってます。糸紡ぎや牛の世話、レンガ造りの家など、見慣れない光景が見れることの他に、人々の映画に対する熱意。農村でありながら、熱さを持った村人は必見です。

僕も映画を通して「人は仕事」ということを今でも感じています。

■概要
舞台は、イタリアのシチリア島にある小さな村。
村民達の唯一の楽しみは映画館。
そこで働く1人の少年がこの物語の主人公。
彼は映画を観ること以上に映画を写すことに興味を持ち、映写の仕事を手伝い始める。
仕事の魅力は、観客席の後ろから映画を見ることで、観客の反応を楽しむことだ。
生涯映写の仕事をしようと決意を固めていたが、そこで長く働くおじさんに止められてしまう。おじさんにとって、この狭い世界で一生を費やす事をもったいないと感じていたのだ。そこで1度は外に出てみるものの、やはり自分には映写しかない、と感じ仕事場に戻ってくる。

　昔にテレビで見た時、この映画を見て泣いた記憶だけがあった。
さぞ感動したんだろうと思い、当時から20年位たってからこうして購入してみた。
･･････どこで泣いたのか思い出せなかった。（映画館が潰れた時かな。おじいさんが亡くなったときかな。）
　でも、その時は分からなかった、おじいさんがフィルムとトトに込めた深い深い思いというのが、分かって何かジーーーーーーーンと感じるものがありました。
（フランス映画やイタリア映画のヒューマンは結構、何かジジーーーーーーーーーーンと深いものが多々あると改めて思いました。）
もっと年をとったら、また分かる何かがあるんだろうと思います。
　ただ、今回の完全版･･･１７５分です。お時間のある時にどうぞ。

最初みた公開版でも十分素晴らしいと感じられる作品でしたが、完全版を見ると見かけによらず、最高レベルの映画だとわかります。
長いと感じることもなく、ラストシーンでは何度見ていても涙があふれてきます。
私がベストと言える映画の筆頭です。
