曲一つ一つのクオリティが非常に高い。
細美さん、いつの間にこんな才能を発揮したんですか??ってな感じです。優しくなった。
エルレみたいなサウンドを期待すると、肩透かし喰らうのは事実。でも俺は明らかにロックアルバムとしては傑作だと思います。


みんなエルレが戻ってくると信じて待ってるけど俺はこれを聞いた瞬間、ホントにエルレは戻ってくるんだろうかって思いました。自分はこれ聞いて逆に更に遠くへ離れて行った感じがした。

傑作であるとの批評を目にしたのでまず試聴をしてみた。
演者の意識の広がりとサウンドの奥行きの深さに驚いた。確実に今の他の日本のバンドにはない新しい音楽であると思う。メンバー全員の他の追随を許さぬ高みを臨む姿勢が窺える。

音楽好き故に売れている音楽、ELLEGARDENというだけで彼の音楽を聴かなかった人も多い筈だ。そういった人達にも是非一度聞いてもらいたい。また、ELLEGARDENを待ち焦がれている人達にも是非聞いてもらいたい。一度は近くにいたのだから細美武士の今はこの一枚にあるという事が自然とわかるのではないだろうか。

もちろんどうしても肌に合わぬ人もいるだろうが、この音楽から受ける刺激は決してマイナスにはならない筈だ。今の自分の好む音楽と聞き比べて欲しい。この音を日本人が今この時代に演奏する意味を感じて欲しい。指標になる音楽だ。

ELLEGARDEN時代を良く知っていたわけではないし技術的なことはあまりわからないが、エルレ好きはもちろん、新たにこのサウンドに触れる人々に受け入れられるべき作品であると思う。説得力は何もないが少なくともここに心震えた人間がいる。音楽を愛するロック好きすべての人に聞いて欲しい。そして少しでもロックがPOPSとしてもっと身近に聴いてもらえるような日本の音楽シーンのボトムアップに繋がらん事を切に祈る。

音楽好き皆に聴いて欲しいそんな事の思える素晴らしい傑作だ。

ロック雑誌によくある「名曲の誕生」って言葉すら、
消費されてしまう言葉になりつつある中、
2009年の名盤に必ず上げられるだろう一枚。

ギターはJのサポートをしていたmasasucks、
ドラムにtoeの柏倉隆史、
ベースが元ミッシェルガンのウエノコウジ、
キーボードにsinger songerや木村カエラのサポートで有名な堀江博久と
中々にジャンルレスなメンバー。
練りに練られているアレンジで、鋭さのみに収まらない卓越したものがある。

ガンダムハンマーをご存知だろうか。
丸い鉄球にトゲが付いていて振り回してザクを倒す。

もしエルレガーデンとthe HIATUSに差があるのだとすれば、
今回のthe HIATUSは「ガンダムハンマーにトゲが付いていない。」
ハンマー元来の球体のみの硬度で勝負。
そういう事なのだと思う。

ご存知の方はいると思うが、このアルバム、実は洋版扱いである。
レンタルを待っていても一年借りれない。
「海外へ流通するアルバム」なのだ。

海外に届いて欲しいと素直に思う。
ファイブピースで鳴らすバンドと言うのは実は海外から見ると異質で、
日本の90年代が産んだ「極めて日本らしい」スタイルだと思う。
そんなスタイルがオアシスやコールドプレイ、グリーンデイ、ウィーザー等、多くのロックバンドが日本に届いてきたように、海外にオンリーワンで鳴らせるバンドが日本にはあると届いて欲しい。

それを思うのならば、細見が今the HIATUSでやろうとしている事は
今まで日本人がロックで到達できなかった世界へ行くのではないかと感じるし目指しているのではないかと感じる。

エルレガーデンとは全く違う、細見個人の希望が鳴っているのだと思わせる、2009年の日本の名盤だ。
