Rock stock & too smokingとこの作品が同時発売となるならば、
まだthe pillowsの事を知らない人にとっては良い機会なのかもしれない。
また、前のベストアルバム「Fool On thr planet」しか持っていないファンにとっては次に買うアルバムはこれだろう。
しかし、このアルバムは良く考えたと思っている。
なにより「Fool on the Planet」の収録曲とまったく被っていない事、
ちゃんと「Smile」から「My Foot」までの収録曲を最低でも１曲を出した事、
「アナザーモーニング」「Rush」「Please Mr.Lostman」など恐らく前のベストアルバムに収録できなかった曲も出している事はいい判断だと思います。
ただし、私としては出来れば「RUNNERS HIGH」からの収録曲を１つ出して欲しかったかな。
（特にNo self Control又はRUNNERS HIGHかな）
だが、Rock Stockよりはこちらのベストアルバムの方が好感は持てるし、
まだthe pillowsを買っていない人は、Rock Stock又はFool on the planetのどちらかとこのアルバムをセットで買ったほうがいいと思うな。

今回は、コメントのみの評価として出しますが、評価を１つ下げた理由は、
やはりRUNNERS HIGHの収録曲を１つだけ入れて欲しかったことだけです。

収録曲を見ると、このアルバムは前ベストアルバム「Fool on the planet」以降に発売されたアルバムの曲が中心に収録されているので初めてpillowsを聞く人は「Fool on the planet」と一緒に聞くのがオススメです。

また「Fool on the planet」には収録されていなかった「RUSH」「アナザーモーニング」「Please Mr.Lostman」が収録されているのも嬉しいです。

そして今までのCDに収録されていなかった「FLAG STAR」が収録されます。私はまだ聞いたことがないので新曲同様といった感じですのでとても楽しみです。

あと欲を言えば「Smile」からあと一曲(「日々のうた」か「Calvero」)と「RUNNERS HIGH」を収録して欲しかったです。

選曲も大変だったと思いますがとても聞きやすくなっていると思うので「Fool on the planet」同様最高のベストアルバムになると思います。

２０周年！長く愛されてきた孤高のロックバンド、the pillowsの最新ベストアルバムが二枚同時発売です。
こちらは旧キングレコード所属時の5枚のアルバムを中心にセレクトされています。
2001年に発表されたベストアルバム、『Fool on the planet』からは
全く被らないように選曲されており、初めてthe pillowsに触れる方には素直に
「『Fool on the planet』とこのアルバムを聴いてね」と薦める事が出来ると思います。

もちろんthe pillowsと言えば「ストレンジ カメレオン」であり「ハイブリッド レインボウ」なのですが、
いざこのベストアルバムを聴いてみると、主に収録されている2001年〜2006年の時期こそが
実は本当の黄金期だったのではないか、と思わせられる程に、
あまりにも名曲揃い・ベストオブベストの内容である事に驚かされます。
「この世の果てまで」「バビロン 天使の詩」「I know you」ほか多数！
これほどの曲を矢継ぎ早に出していながら！何故、これまで売れなかったのか……。
シングル曲の収録も数が絞られており、かなり選び抜かれた、安定した内容であるほか、
前作『Fool on the planet』に入らなかった過去の名曲も３曲選ばれています。
さらには、ファンにとって見逃せない未発表曲「FLAG STAR」も忘れてはいけません。
the pillowsの十八番である「憂鬱系ラブソング(?)」の真骨頂とも言える大名曲となっており、
バスターの皆様には、この一曲だけのためにでも、このアルバムのご購入を強くお薦め致します。
これほどの曲を出し損なうというのが……何と言うか……the pillowsの不器用さ、不遇さと言いますか……。

現在でもライヴで演奏される名曲を多数揃えた、
新規の方にこそオススメしたい、完成度の高いベストアルバムです。
avexから同発した『Rock stock & too smoking the pillows』が
少々ファンアイテム的な側面がある一方、こちらは正に正統派・直球勝負のベストアルバム！
大名盤となっています。必見です！
