レフティのギターを抱えたヴォーカルの菜花がステージで一声を発した瞬間、detroit7はいわゆるガールズ・バンドとは全く別物であることがわかる。国内だ海外だと言う時代ではないのだけれど、図抜けてパワフルなそのサウンドと圧倒的にダイナミックなステージ・パフォーマンスは、これは来日した海外のオルタナバンドか?と錯覚してしまうほど衝撃的だ。
かねてよりライブシーンでは高い評価を集めているdetroit7であるが、今回、ロサンゼルスで活躍するStan Katayama氏(「レイジ・アゲンスト・ザ・マシン」のデビューアルバム録音でグラミー賞最優秀エンジニアにノミネートされた!)を迎え、沖縄レコーディングを敢行。生身の演奏にこだわりぬいたロック・スピリットに溢れる作品は既に海外での評価も高く、3月、4月と、国内でのリリースに先駆け、欧米での20本を越えるツアー、アルバム・リリースが決定している。

菜花知美により2001年に結成された3ピースのオルタナティブロックバンド。数々の海外アーティストのオープニングアクト、対バンを務め、2008年3月には、全米七都市をまわる「Japan Nite US Tour 2008」に参戦。国内でもSUMMER SONIC、RISING SUN ROCK FESのフェスに多数出演している。白いレフティのJazzMasterを抱えた菜花の、時にHardで時にMellowなヴォーカルが特徴的で、迫力に満ちたライブ・パフォーマンスが魅力のバンドである。

とにかくカッコイイの一言。
ギター、ボーカルのクールビューティさ加減と曲がまた非常にコンパクトで無駄が一切無く、英語詩でスタイリッシュ、音のやさぐれ感とあいまって魅力的です。
アルバム中の曲は全て非常にクオリティが高かったです。
褒めちぎっていて、なんで星４つかっていうと、それでもまだ先達も含めれば上には上がいるでしょ？
とはいれ、最近じゃ珍しく久々の収穫といって良いんじゃないですか？
個人的には少し前にブレイクしていたラブ・サイケデリコなんかに比べるとこっちのが確実に凌駕してると思いますよ。

恐らく今現在、日本で一番かっこいいスリーピースバンドではなかろうか。
全ての音を、かっこいいかかっこ悪いかを基準に構築していったかのような
激アツギターサウンドが爆発しています。
