Album Details

Japanese only deluxe 2 CD SHM paper sleeve pressing. The SHM-CD [Super High Material CD] format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.

リマスターされた音源はとても素晴らしいものに仕上がっていると思います。故に何故中途半端なフォーマットのSHM-CDなんかでリリースするのかとても不思議です。

Tommyのデラックスエディションのように、コピーが難しいSACDハイブリッドでのリリースは考えられなかったのでしょうか？

次世代フォーマットまでのつなぎアイテムということなのでしょう。

でも今現在では最高峰のフーの音源なので、手元に置いておくしかないのが悔しいです。
ステレオとモノラルでこれほど印象の異なるアイテムも珍しいですね。

シンプルに評価。。。
一番完成されたリイシューです。
値段も特に安い訳では無いけど、1stや2ndのBOXみたいな詐欺行為にはなってないレベルです。
これから買う方はSELL OUTはこれだけで以前の「＋数曲」リミックス･リマスターは買う必要が無いですね。

whoを10年以上聴いてる方には。
whoのアルバム　メチャクチャダブって買ってません？
うちはSELL OUTなんかだと「ふざけんな！」って自分に言いたくなるくらい棚に入ってます。

１ｓｔと２ｎｄもこの体裁で出直して欲しいなぁ。

The Whoの作品の中でSell Outは特に好きなアルバムだ。1995年にDigital Remixされ、音の分離が格段に良くなったのは大歓迎だった。今回のこのDeluxe Edition、Original MasterのRemasterということで、ステレオ／モノともにLP時代に戻った内容＋ボーナストラックだ。懐かしがるのには良いのだが、それほど意味ある気はしない。The Whoのファンとしても、コレクター以外であれば、Remix版ザ・フー・セル・アウト+10をおすすめしたい。

Original Mono MixはStereo Mixに比べて編集が雑、さらにピッチが速い。当時はテープのダビングによる編集で手間も時間もかかるもので、ステレオ版作ったらもう嫌になっちゃったのかもしれない。

あと、"SHM-CD"ってのは実にくだらない。どんな素材を使おうと、読み取りが同じなら同じ音だ。読み取りエラーが深刻ならばコンピューターでCDは使えない。今や音楽はiPodなどで聴く時代に、素材云々で高い値段設定とは、あきれた感覚である。ファンの気持ちを考えれば、未発表曲や録音を重複無く買いやすい形でリリースすべきだろう。

作品は大好きなのだが、レコード会社の姿勢に対してマイナス3点。
