北欧はノルウェー/ベルゲンを本拠地にするエレクトロ・デュオ。
1999年に結成。2001年デビュー・アルバム『メロディーA.M.』をリリース する。この アルバムが全世界100万枚以上のセールスを売り上げ、 ケミカル・ブラザーズやダフト・パンクと並ぶ、ダンス・ミュージックを代表 するアーティストに!数多くのダンス・ミュージックがただただ宣伝過剰された駄作である昨今、『メロディー・A.M.』は全くそこには属さない驚くべきアルバムであった。それは、誰も予想できなかった音であり、予測されなかった場所から発信されたのである。彼らの音楽はクラバー、流行モノ好きのキッズ、そしてオープンマインドのロック・ファンまでもを魅了。ここ日本では先行シングル「プア・レノ」に登場するクマのぬいぐるみキャラ「レノ君」も人気を博し、2003年のフジロックで伝説的に語られるようになったライヴ・パフォーマンスを披露し、一気に認知度をあげる。

約4年ぶりとなるロイクソップの3作目は、これまでで最もポップな仕上がりかと思います。

やたらと甘ったるいピコピコ・ソングから始まるこのアルバム、ほぼ全編で女性ボーカルをフィーチュアしたミドルテンポの歌モノで構成されていて、聴き出して数曲はライノセラスが演ってそうなトラックが並び、所々にジャスティスちっくな圧縮シンセ音が顔を覗かせています。

最初こそロイクソップにしては派手めな印象を受けましたが、かといって全体を包むのメランコリーな雰囲気は損なわれていませんし、洗練されながらも温かみのあるメロディはもちろん健在です。

ただどちらかと言うと今作は、ダフトパンクやケミカルが好きなテクノ派な方よりも、ペットショップ・ボーイズやNOなど往年のシンセポップ/エレポップが好きな人の琴線に触れることの方が大きいアルバムかなとも思います。
個人的には、#4,#8,#11が特にお気に入りです。

デビュー作からのファンですが、今回ばかりはちょいハズレかな？
って思いました。
Happy Up HereはRoyksopp健在！って感じなんだけど、
他の曲はちょっとだけ恥ずかしい気持ちになってしまった。
個人的にはSilver Cruiserがしっくりくる感じでした。
