マリアンヌにとって、５年ぶりとなる本作は、サブ・タイトルに、「１０ ｓｏｎｇｓ　ｆｏｒ　ｍｕｓｉｃ　ｌｏｖｅｒｓ」となっているように、彼女の愛した歌のカバー集となっている。
そのラインナップも、ドリー・パートン、ビリー・ホリデイ、ブライアン・イーノ、ランディ・ニューマン、スモーキー・ロビンソンといったベテラン勢から、ニーコ・ケース、ディセンバリスツ、エスパーズのような、比較的新しいアーティストの、それもジャンルを超えた選曲となっている。
そして、忘れてはならないのが、プロデューサーのハル・ウィルナー！
玉石混合状態で、世に出回る、いわゆるトリビュート・アルバムを最初に始めたのは、正真正銘、この人！
１９８１年にリリースされた、映画音楽家ニーノ・ロータの作品集を皮切りに、セロニアス・モンク、クルト・ワイル、ウォルト・ディズニー、チャーリー・ミンガスといった故人の作曲者をテーマにした（ディズニーの場合は、映画音楽集）シリーズで、名盤を連発し、いわゆるトリビュート・アルバムというものを、世に定着させた人物だ。（もっとも、第１作のニーノ・ロータのそれは、ある企画の失敗の産物だったようだが）
その名プロデューサー、ウィルナーの指令のもと、集まった参加ミュージシャンも豪華。
アントニー・アンド・ザ・ジョンソンズのアントニー、ジョンとヨーコの息子、ショーン・レノン、ルーファス・ウェインライト、ニック・ケイヴ、キャット・パワー、そして、あのザ・ローリング・ストーンズのキース・リチャーズも。
ミック・ジャガーとマリアンヌ・フェイスフルの因縁を考えれば、これは、うれしい参加といえよう。
お世辞にもうまい歌手だとは言えぬが、唯一無二の存在感を誇る彼女の歌声と、これだけのメンツがそろえば、悪かろうはずがない。
心して、聴くべし！
