1. オーディオ選択

2007年版(Deutsche Grammophon)まではDolby Digitalもあったが
2008年からのDecca版ではLPCM,DTSのみの選択。
LPCMではややもの足らず、結局、音を十分堪能するならばDTSしかないだろう。

２．実演とボーナス映像

『ニューイヤーコンサート』DVDの　”恩恵”のひとつは、
テレビ中継時はバレー映像でかぶさっていた曲の実演が見れること
「ハンガリー万歳」はなかなかのもの。
（勿論、バレー映像も’ボーナス’で見れる）

ちなみに2008年版（プレートル指揮）の「人生を楽しめ」では
中継時に流れたバレー映像と実演とでは、テンポの違いからして明らかに別演奏とわかる。

今回のボーナス映像：

・「宝のワルツ」（バレー）
・「ハンガリー万歳」（バレー）
・「リンツ　2009　ヨーロッパの文化首都」（約24分）
　　
　　最初の５分程が中継時にも流れたが、ウイーン・フィル各パート奏者の演奏をバックに
　　伝統＆モダンなリンツを紹介している。
　　バレンボイムのピアノ演奏（シューベルトの即興曲）のシーンもある。
　
その他、「美しき青きドナウ」の最後、会場内での子供達によるバレーのシーンでは
中継時とは異なるアングルの部分がある。

いずれにしても、オーディオにやや難があるというものの，
演奏、バレー、オーストリアの美しい景色、楽友協会ホールの壮麗な装飾・・・
これらがシュトラウスの流麗で魅惑的な音楽、ウイーン・フィルの音色と相まって
文化の香り高きゴージャスな世界を醸し出す・・・
一編の映像作品としても秀逸！　
相変わらずコストパーフォーマンスは一級品（いや特級！）である！！！
