こんなことを書くと酷く叩かれそうな気がしますが、
ちょっとズルいと思いませんか？
プロスペクツが枚数限定で、
後に二枚セットで出すなんて。
もちろんうまい商法だとは思いますよ。
美しき生命を買った人で、
プロスペクツの日本限定盤が買えなかった人は
渋々これを買うしかないのでしょうから。
ボーナストラックがついてるのは良いと思いますけど、
あれ、前にサイト上で無料配布されてた曲ですよね。

４ｔｈが出て、すぐ買おうかどうか迷ってたんですが、どうせ来日するとき最強盤が出るだろうと思って待ってたら、案の定こんなスペシャル･エディションが出てくれました。紙ジャケットなので、通常盤より高級感があって良いですね。

Discｰ1は、2008年度で最も売れたCDだそうです。
CDが発売されて1か月目ぐらいのとき、Barksで2週間で1000万枚以上売れた･･･と書かれてましたが、今年に入ってからのまたもBarksの記事では現在までで約660万枚売れたって書かれてました。こういう売上枚数ってどうなってるんでしょうか？まあどちらにせよ、このCDが売れない時代に、恐れ入るばかりの大成功。

聴いた感想としては、１ｓｔ〜３ｒｄまでより、曲調がポップで聴きやすくなった気がしました。それでいて、ドラムのヘヴィーな感じと、それなりにうるさいギター音が、過去の作品よりも力強さが感じられ、轟音好きでも、癒し系好きでも対応できそうな（？）、とても聴き心地の良い音だと思います。

自分は１ｓｔのYellowがコールドプレイの最高傑作だと思っているので、それを超える曲はなかったような気がしますが、それでもこのアルバムの4〜5曲（Lost！やViVa〜など）は彼らの代表曲になるんじゃないでしょうか。ベスト形式の選曲になるライヴが、最高に楽しみになるバンドだと思います。


Disc-2ですが、
個人的に、Life In Technicolorはイントロだけじゃもったいな〜と思ってたので、
Life In TechnicolorAで歌付きになっていたのは本当に嬉しかったです。名曲だと思います。これをライヴでやってくれたら最高です。

それ以外の曲はどれも佳作といったところ。やっぱりB面集というか、ボーナストラックという感じですね。まあどれもしっかり作られているので、ファンなら好印象ではないでしょうか。
Jay-Zのラップが唐突に入るLostのリミックスは、解説にもあるとおり、最初違和感があって笑ってしまいました。


それにしても、自分も最初はコールドプレイの良さがあまりわからなかった人間だったのですが、すっかりこのアルバムで大ファンになってしまいました。今一番成功しているバンドの（おそらく）全盛期を、リアルタイムで体験できて嬉しいですね。
オアシスとかニルヴァーナはバカ売れ時期に知らなかったもんですから･･･（個人的な話でスミマセン）。

次のアルバムに期待です。

昨年暮に通常盤を購入致しました。
ジャケットと内容がイマイチに感じましたが、JAY-Zファンで本作も購入致しました。
昨年聴いたよりも良く感じました。（内容は一緒）
何度も聴けば、味合いが深くなる作品で不思議な魅力をもったバンドです。

通常盤と本作の大きな違いは、disk2の編集が違いますが、通常盤との違いはあまり感じません。
タイトル曲のエコー感と空気が堪能できれば十分で、かえって通常盤の方が短い分、集中して聴けます。

国内盤は初回限定盤のbonustrackに1曲プラスしただけで価格が高い為、
購入するなら輸入盤をお勧め致します。
（個人的には本作を購入して、このバンドを理解できました。）

グラミー賞作品は本作ではなく通常盤です。
本作に限り、special　editionの意味もありがたみもありません。
