話題のイーストウッドの、話題性の低い作品です。

過剰な音楽演出の少なさがかえって緊張感をあおる、
稀なテンションの作品です。
シュワちゃんのプレデターに影響を与えたかのようです(笑)

イーストウッド出演作らしい、登場人物同士の微妙な心の通じ合いや駆け引きが
比較的しっかり描かれており、私は大好きです。

どんどん派手になる軽薄なアクション映画が好きな私でも深夜にハマれる映画なのです☆

　この映画が作られた当時、ソビエトは強国で

　資本主義国にとって脅威だと思われていました。

　ですが、冷戦構造が崩壊した今

　ソビエトの脅威はアメリカ軍事産業の巧妙な宣伝によって作られたのではないか？

　という考え方が広がっています。

　そう考えると本作は

　私たちが純粋にソビエトの強さと恐ろしさを信じていられた時代の

　名残なのかもしれません。

イーストウッド主演監督作だが、現在のイメージとはまるで違って、当時流行ったスカイアクションもので、後半は当時のオプチカル処理バリバリのＲエドランドのSFXを駆使したスカイアクションシーンが満載のかなりの異色作。イーストウッドの重厚な演出は前半のサスペンスの盛り上がりをイマイチ作れていなくて、前半退屈、後半いきなりSFXスカイアクションなので、評論家とかには評判の悪い作品。かなりの大作アクションなのに、マイナーなのもそれが起因しているようだ。まあ、期待せずに見ればそれなりに楽しめるできであり、今のCGとはまるで質感の違うSFXシーンも新鮮だ。
