友人から小曽根真という尊敬するピアニストがいると聞いて、昨年より聞き始めましたが、自分の感性にぴったりと合ったようです。
特にこのバラードがお気に入りです。
彼のピアノの音色が、究極の癒しとなって、仕事で疲れた脳裏に浸透する感じがします。ここに収録されている彼のオリジナルはすべて素晴らしいのですが、特にリボーンは絶品です。

圧倒的なテクニックと、感情豊かなメロディセンスを兼ね備えた素晴らしいプレイヤーです。このアルバムではソロからビッグバンドまで幅広いコレクションになっているので、はじめての人にもお勧めです。
僕は１０年くらい前に虜になって以来、小曽根真にハマりっぱなしです。
激しくお勧めします。

小曽根真の歴代レコーディングから、メロウで静かな曲を中心に集めたオムニバスアルバム。13曲中8曲が小曽根氏のソロ、残りのうち2曲が氏がリーダーをつとめるNo Name Horsesと、3曲が小曽根真トリオの演奏。

１曲目"She"からロマンティックで、馴染み深いメロディが始まる。4曲目"Asian Dream"は特に名曲の一つで素晴しい演奏。全体的にとろけるようなピアノの音が特徴的で、疲れた神経をいやしてくれるだろう。
No Name Horsesの曲はホーンが中心の演奏になっており、少し他の曲に比べて、ビッグバンド的なハーモニーになっており、いいアクセントになっている。

良い意味でも悪い意味でも王道を行く演奏なので、安心して聴けるだろう。例えるなら、John ColtraneのBalladのように、聴きやすいし、美しいのだが、今一、彼が本来持っている刺激は出し切れない感じもする、ということだ。刺激を求めるJazzファンには、小曽根氏の他のアルバムをお勧めしたい。アルバム全体の雰囲気としては、あの名盤Bill Evansの"You must believe in spring”のような雰囲気だ。私個人としてはとても良いアルバムだと思う。
